Withdrawal....again

Well I'm not sure if any of you remember me but after 8 days being clean of Percocets I relapsed and went through 100 in 18 days.  Now I am done again so I get to do this again.  I am very disappointed and I think right now the shame is the hardest to deal with.  I am starting day 2 and already feel like crap.  Someone remind me when I will feel better because I can't even remember what it was like

I'm sure that you know this, but there are a couple of things that I've read on this forum that have really helped. Most of us relapse, and we do it because 1, we still have an easy way to get meds, 2, we don't understand or won't acknowledge that the mental side of recovery is life long and much, much harder than the physical side, and 3, we often "romance" the addiction (a quote from Sara that has stayed with me).
Bottom line, you are the only one that can decide if this really is your last time. Aftercare, family, this forum - all great and necessary tools, but it is up to you. One thing - the detox gets much harder the older you get.
Good luck; keep posting.

No aftercare was a big mistake.  I won't do that again I just want to be able to get out of bed without feeling it is a marathon

Please don't beat yourself up, hon.  It happens to SO many people.  If this battle were easy, no one would ever relapse.  But we all know it is definitely NOT easy and relapsing does not equal failure.  It is a learning experience and will help you with this go-round.  I hope you feel supported here and know that you have MANY people pulling for you and doing the exact same thing you are: fighting this demon called addiction and WE WILL WIN!!!!  Hugs to you!

Aftercare is what got me here and it is what keeps me here. I cannot do this alone and after many, many failed attempts I finally got that through my head. I did therapy to get to the root of the problems and I work on that every day as different things come up. I also joined an outside support group of addicts just like myself who welcomed me and have taught me how to live life on life's terms over the years. I continue to keep them a very special part of my life. All of this is essential for MY recovery. If it can help anyone STAY clean then you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. If you tried everything else and continue to relapse, why not try something different?

I have the same question, aftercare? You went thru the physical withdrawals so you know you can do it again.  but when the mental part kicks in that's where the problems start all over, not for everyone, but alot of people need the extra help to stay off. Congrats on day 2!!

First let me strongly say don't think of days to come. 6 day's cool your body should be feeling pretty good. Your feeling clear headed. Getting things back You enjoy. 1 of the first things for me was music. The feeling and emotion that music you enjoy can bring. Hold on to those things minute by minute.
My back injury was 15 years ago. I was on hydro For the last 7 years. The relapse was from a flare up Just from bending over I couldn't take a deep breath without it dropping Me to my knees. The 2 weeks of relapse I maintain control wasn't easy And a total waste of time and energy they didn't even help. I had another 1 of those shooting fires in my back yesterday I got do that without thinking of taking a pill.
This old crooked back and had a crooked fence  and a... : )
I really need to slow down and take it easy That's hard for me to do Pace myself take breaks All I do is go go go. The 24/7 pain levels go up and down. At 530 am a nice hot shower will loosen up my stiff muscles from the night before. Then stretching techniques and there are many. A few minutes of welight  cardio as much as I can do. Stretch ocasionally throughout the day. Ibuprofen breakfast lunch dinner bedtime.

How long did it take before your back pain got to you and you started thinking relapse? I have some major backissues but I hate the depression that comes with the somewhat relief. I don't want to forget the major depressed feeling I get with norco and my main fear is that the pain will cause me to forget the depression. Day 52 huh... I just started day 6 but feeling less depressed every minute.

Today is day 9 clean for me. I relapsed at 52 days clean. Beating yourself up will get you nowhere but i know it is imposabl not to. For two days the guilt and remorse' snap out of it move on and get back on the road to recovery.
Remember this relapse. How did you feel. For me it was terrible. It feels my addiction wants me to take so badly did'nt  make me feel good at all. My back pain cause me to relapse And I didn't really help that either. What's done is done I will use it as a learning experience. Yup had to make sure those pills still suck! Get back up and get going.

Listen to Pat, she is a wise woman and knows how this cycle goes if your not careful. Don't fear the w/d's. It is what it is. Get a good multivitiam, protein shakes, gatoraide or watered down OJ and let the games begin. You will get thru this no problem. The mental is the tricky part. You will SWEAR that if you could just get thru detox, you will NEVER touch a pill again. Thats our plan but our minds mess with us in the most creative ways possible to try to get that false "feel good" feeling again. Just beware and seek support in anyway you can for this. This forum is a great start! Sending support your way...

I know what you mean.  I wasn't prepared for the mental part of this either.  I thought once the withdrawlals were over, that would be it.  It is really tough to do but there are so many success stories on here it gives me encouragement.
Forgive yourself and focus on getting cleans.  Make sure you get all the things that you need to make your detox easier.

I don't have a script but got them all at once....not too hard out here.  But I am serious about it.  I am done being a slave to this crap.  I will overcome it this time, last time I wasn't prepared for the temptation and now I am

Well I did the same thing after 10 days but I didn't get a hold of 100.  Do you still have a prescription for them or were you just getting a few at a time?
The withdrawals usually last 3 to 5 days, peak at day 3 and 4 but everyone is different and everytime is different.  My first time day 3 was the worst physically and my second time it was day 1.
If you seriously want to stay off of them don't beat yourself up.  Relapse happens to alot of us and as long as we keep trying then I think eventually we will get it.  I know it's easy to say as I too suffer from the guilt and frustration at not being able to accomplish something I so desperately want.  It's like we have 2 different minds when it comes to this addiction.  The one that would do anything to stay clean and the other one that keeps saying, just take one, just take one.
What caused you to relapse?
