I didn't mean to hijack your thread here. Sorry about that. Its just I have real ill feelings and suspicions about any anti-depressant.
Wow,,another med thats being over prescribed..Sounds like the story with the Cymbalta..Some say it's given them their live's back and some have said had they had any idea as to the wd's associated with that stuff (which the warnings were void of except for that "might cause" statement),,,That they would have never touched it. I did a short spell withit back 3 or 4 years ago and jumped off of it after a month as real weird things started happening. I "just" dodged a bullet with that choice. My doctor was pissed at me when I told him what I had done, as he said it's effectiveness is based on continued dosing..Well, the "effectiveness" it was giving me was somethig I wanted no part off. Crazy brain zaps as I call them and an unusual amount of stress...It was after I quit that I started to get curious about this new "wonder medication" as it was called as I certainly did not reap any benefit from it...It was then I tripped across a site, not this one (I really don't understand why I didn't find this one then, wished I had),,I tripped across a forum about cymbalta and all kinds of people were talking about the horrible reaction they were getting from trying to get away from the stuff and all talking class action lawsuit.. From what I understand about a year, maybe two ago it was made mandatory that the warnings indicated that this med "is not" to be stopped suddenly, and said that a taper program under the supervision of one's doctor was highly recommended......Sometimes I really wonder about the motivations of some of these pharmacutical company's. At the time they were loaded down Dr's offices with free samples. It was after two weeks I called the doctor and said I was out of the samples and was there more to pick up or what. I got a call back indicating he was out of the samples but to come pick up the script..It seems to me when I picked it up, it was a rather expensive prescription........What do I see from the experience?
Gettum hooked....I really wonder about this sometimes..Really do..
Yes dav. It's used as an antidepressant but it's for bi polar. It's very strong and has terrible side effects. My husband went from 165 to 200lbs in a month!! He felt awful and sleepy and grouchy. It was terrible. The thing is it's used for depression when it shouldn't be. It can cause u to develop all sorts if health issues. Liver problems/ sugar problems etc. I wouldn't recomend it to anyone unless they had severe bi polar. It's classified as an antipsychotic med. Why they gave it for mild depression I have no clue. It was so hard for him to come off of it But he did and now he doesn't take any antidepressant. He just takes 1 klonapon at night and he's fine.
I'm assuming this "zyprexa" is an anti-depressant?
Same thing happened to my husband with zyprexa. He didn't need it either. Gained weight, slept all the time, was more depressed than when he started it. It was terrible stuff. He tapered off then switched to something else. I can't remember which antidepressant now (sorry). Then he stopped that one soon after, maybe like 6 months later. It was pretty tricky at first cause he had pretty bad panic attacks after stopping the zyprexa. He's fine Now thank God. I feel for u but it's doable. He lost every bit of the weight in like a month or two, felt more energetic. You will be ok. Good luck!
It's hard to answer this question. Was the person you? Are you feeling okay?
It IS important to taper off this med.
