Xanax sudden withdrawl help

by sweepup, Feb 23, 2007 12:00AM
Tuesday night I took my last 4MG of Xanax about 2 hours before bed with two beers, I did this routine nightly of 3 to 4mg of Xanax for about 6 weeks, Ive never used it before, I don't use any other drugs and Im not drinking anymore, I have looked up and know what Im going thru (Xanax withdrawl) right this very minute, what Im curious to know and I know its different with everyone though is with your best guess how long on your best guess will I experience these uncomfortable withdrawl symptoms for and what if anything can I do to ease them, again I took 3 to 4mg nightly as a routine with 2 beers for about 6 weeks.

Thankyou for any replies

unfortunatly everyone is different. benzo withdrawl is a tricky one since its a hard drug to stop cold turkey. have you done research online asked a doc maybe.. just my thoughts. sounds like you are thru the first few days though so that is hopeful. be careful though they usually recommend stopping with a docs care since benzo withdrawl can be dangerous..(not meant to scare you) just what i have read.

abrupt cessation of ne benzo is dangerous and can be life threatening.the safest(only) way to stop is wif a taper.of course frequency and volume should all be considered wen planning a taper regimine.good luck.c a doc.its important

I agree. Stopping benzos abruptly can cause seizures and other life threatening things. Don't want to scare you and when I went through mine it was a 13 year habit I had to w/d from. I was in a detox facility and had to taper. Still no bowl of cherries.

Be safe and take care.....LS

Very hard to do. Was a detox nurse. Must be careful. I had come off Ativan and almost went into sezuries. I had been taking 5mg. per day for 2 years for panic disorder. Ran out on a Friday and went till Monday for my Dr. to call in a refill. Thank God for the friend who shoveled me sleeping pills to keep me going. Tappering off is the best and safest way. Looks as if you are doing o.k. if Tues. was your last dose. Go to the E.R. if it gets too bad. Dont risk it.

I CAN TOTALLY RELATE, I AM TRYING TO STOP A TRUE ADDICTION TO XANAX AND I WAS TOLD BY MY DR. TO TAPER OFF WITH VALIUM, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE AS HIGH OF A MILLIGRAM AND IT KEEPS THE TERRIBLE WITHDRAWL SYMPTOMS AT BAY.  I TOOK XANAX FOR ABOUT 12 YEARS AND STILL CATTLE THE HORRIBLE PROBLEMS.  MY DIAGNOSIS IS FOR PANIC ATTACK, I DID NOT KNOW THE DRUG WAS SO ADDICTIVE UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE.  BE VERY CAREFUL STOPPING IT ABRUPTLY.

HANG IN THERE

i am a new memeber i have an addiction to xanax, i have tried at times very hard but the pain of the withdrawing has me beat.  i do ok until about the 3rd day, then i feel i will truely die.  it is almost incapacitating until i take my next pill.
i am so frustrated, i have lost jobs, friends, and relationships over this pill.  i am currently about to lose my family over this because i have been to ashamed or too scared to stop. it is killing me, and i would do just about anything to get will.  please recommend something........ i am at the end of my rope with this pill problem.
thank you
