Xanax w/d or seroquel

by sunflower777, Aug 28, 2008 09:10AM
Have been taking xanax for 5 years .50. Recently moved up to 1mg. What a great change, maybe too great. Now I am out. This where the withdrawal part could come in. Dr gave me Seroquel. It was the longest scariest night of my life. Since I have gone a few days w/o the xanax and had no noticable issues. I'm wondering what the cause was? Anyone heard of this.  My Dr. is out of town so I will have to go to ER if there are any other issues. Second question isn't possible to c/t on a low does of xanax? Or should I still be scared? Really feel pretty good...Still to scared to take seroquel.

Thanks,

Thanks for replying. I thought he was giving me the seroquel to help stablize my moods and help with sleep. A replacement for the xanax and ambien. Didn't think the seroquel would react in such a violent way. Took last 2 xanax Moday-a little jittery and sluggish but ok...just scared after reading so much about DONT go cold turkey.  He is out of town -so er would the answer.

Thanks....

You sound ok now? I think you would've had any of the really bad things happen by now from xanax. It is scary reading all the things about xanax. I've only been on it 6 months. the first 5 months only .25mgs, then the last month up to 2mg  day. Haven't taken any since last night at 10pm. feel a little jittery, but I always do anyway. I'm not going CT, I'm just waiting it out as loooong as I can between small doses to taper. so far feeling ok! And yes, you could always go to the ER. thats what I would do! OH, and about the seroquel, I hear that drug is CRAZY..my roomate is bi-polar and on occasion she'll take it, I would NEVER even consider taking it. hope you're well :)

Thanks for the info.. I have taken xanax on several different occasions and mgs., never higher than 2mg. I guess I just never realized that I had quit. We would move, new docs would be supicious and ,you know... Then one comes a long and finally figures out what was going on all these years. Made some great progress. I'm sure he is trying to steer me away from becoming xanax dependant. However, these new class of meds really, really made me crazy. My husband touched the back of my arm and said it felt like it was on fire. So many other horrible side effects. I like to stick to what I know works. I think that xanax is super for so many things. BUT you must be very responsible as you take it.  Hope all goes well with you
