Xanax wd's hanging on!

CRAP!  I can't seem to shake these wd's.  Today is day 16 and I'm still struggling.  I took Xanax xr 1mg nightly for less than a month and thought I'd see some kind of improvement by now.  I get these waves of symptoms that start around 11am and last for 7-8 hours then they seem to subside.  Fever, anxiety, depression, headache, fearful thoughts, jittery, I'm basically a RICHARD during that time.  I've been told that the dose I took was relatively small but Ive also read that Xanax can cause dependence in as little as 7 days.   While I'm still fighting this I can say that I think the waves seem somewhat less intense.  Would anyone have thoughts about an expected duration of these wd's?   Several articles have mentioned 30 days as an average.

This may all be related to the Norco taper. Have you tried spreading the Norco out during the day?  I'd stay at the 3 for awhile until you feel better during the day...it may help.

You weren't totally wrong here...the main thing is you're trying!!  Just stick to a plan; you should feel better soon. Don't drop a dose until you do and then do it slowly in small amounts.

I quit cold turkey because I noticed some serious depression that came out of nowhere.  I'm also doing a fairly quick taper off norco.  I was using eight 10/350 tabs a day for a pinched nerve.  Last year I was only taking 5 and I finally realized where this was going. Currently I'm holding at three tabs a day. I now know that cold turkey from Xanax was a BAD decision but I'm too far in now and have to see thus through.  I've also read that it's not recommended to try and detox from opiates & Benzos at the same time.  I really did this the wrong way I guess.

Iam afraid that you will have wds much longer than that sorry for the bad news xanax is a very addictive substance in a drug class I was in one time it was said that xanax was like heroin in ways it took a longer time for the wds to subside.  So you need to get in a recovery group they can help you and you can vent your frustrations more in a group of recovering addicts.  It will help them and you. I also took xanax and the wds took a while to clear up I went to na aa group and Iam still clean and sober.    Hang in there you can do it if you want to bad enough.

Dear Richard:   (I'm laughing!)

I don't know about this...you must be pretty sensitive. It sounds like withdrawal but after 2 weeks?  It MUST be slightly better by now...

Anyway, Xanax does seem to grab people quickly. 1 mg is a decent dose everyday when you consider a lot of xanax is prescribed at .25mg at a time.  Are you sleeping okay? That's what's going to help you, along with time. Did you taper off?

Everything you describe is typical. The stuff will cause all the things it's supposed to help!!  Crazy!

Are you taking anything else?
