Xanax withdrawl

by vryunque, May 21, 2008 06:09PM
Does any one have info on xanax withdrawl using Herbals?
I have been self medicating for about 3yrs. Between1and 4 mg /day.My body is screwedup big time. The Xanax doesn't help me sleep I am lucky to get 1-3 hrs a day.I quit cold turkey during a long weekend and about lost it.I don't blame anyone but me.I need help to kick it.I have a good job and can't jepordize it.I suffer from SAD but I know I let the meds get the best of me.I can't even tell my Dr. As some have come from non prescription. It susks and I am sure someone out there is where I am or has been.I know there some herbs I could use but I need common sense help not a DR. who doesn't have a clue. Thanks for listening and I hope there is a angel out there.

I am sorry you are going throught this..xanax is a tiny but POWERFUL drug..You absolutely should not go cold turkey off of it because of the risk of serious issues including, seizures, stroke, and death..that is nothing to mess with and you would be hard pressed to find anything herbal that would be safe enough of an alternative to help get off xanax..you must taper very slowly..i tapered off of about 7-8mg/day (very slowly) with very little discomfort. Please do not quit that med cold...

Please do NOT go cold turkey off of Xanax !

Seizures will result.

You must taper.  Other folks will be along in regard to your questions.

Are you clean now?

I was off xanax for about a year when i had finally quit..but..because of a condition called supra ventricular tachycardia  my Dr. felt it best for me to go back on it..I take 1 mg/day and have no desire at all to abuse this drug..I had already done that...So no i guess i am not clean but as i said i do not abuse this medication at all and when i choose to come off it ,i will do it the same way i came off 7/8/mg per dy.
What mg a day do you feel most comfortable? You said you take up to 4..but what is the average for you in a day..

It depends on my anxiety. No Dr I have seen recomends 1 a day.How did you come off 7-8 mg .That is alot of meds?By the way era you a wolverine or Spartan?

Wolverine baby!!!...lol..Well..you either have to look into an alternative to xanax..or continue but only as necessary..I am not against xanax...but you have to take what is prescribed and no more..I am given 90 a month and only take 30...40 if I am under extreme circumstances..i refuse to take more..When i was on the high dosage i started ny taking .25mg away from my daily dose and staying there for a couple of weeks and then went down another.25mg..and stayed there for as long as it took to get used to it and proceeded from there until i was down to a daily dose of .25 which i still cut in 1/2,,and then was off..i honestly don't remember having any bad w/ds or side effects..

I sent you a personal message.

Also, on the right on these pages under "Health Pages" there is the Thomas Recipe.  I know the items on there help for opiate withdrawal, anxiety, depression, but some probably help for Xanax withdrawal.   Please read the recipe, and ask a question about some of the items in relation to Xanax.

Keep reading, keep posting!  There are wonderful supportive people on here.  Knowledge gained and support can and will go a long way!
