Xanax

Hi, one of my friends was perscribed on Xanax about 3 months ago, for his anxity attacks. Latly he has become very suicidal and keeps on talking about taking all his pills at once. I've tried talking him out of it but nothing seems to work. I am very worried about him. Will taken his whole bolltle (1.0mg) kill him as he says? Or Is he just looking for attention?

you need to get him attention NOW.  I would contact local law enforcement and report what your friend has told you...he has a means and a plan.

If your friend wants to kill himself, why not let him? Everyone should be alive by choice, not simply by survival. Suicide isn't for the "mentally ill". It is for people who would rather just not live. Live and let die :-) I hope this helps.

Please do not listen to the person who claims it's okay to let your friend kill himself.  A whole bottle of 1mg(blue footballs) will kill.  Xanax is severely addictive.  I know because I am addicted myself.  It started off as just a way to catch a buzz.  But I got to the point where I had to have it.  It changed my personality.  My husband is scared.  It's causing problems with us because the xanax abuse turns me into a monster.  And it tends to suppress emotions, but it turns on the rage.  Please help your friend.

Sorry I have seen your comment so late !! A person who is on Xanax very well may have very impaired judgement about wanting to live or die. Very often these medications, especially when abused, cause unpredictable side effects, many which affect the emotional state of the person taking them. Just read Michelle's comment above. I believe we all have a moral obligation to help others when we can. The choice to die by someone suffering long painful terminal illness with no possible hope of recovery or pain relief is very different from someone who is on an emotional rollercoaster due to drug abuse or mental illness. IMO,the right to die should only ever be exercised by someone who is 100% mentally stable and has a very serious health issue. Most people who cry 'suicide' really want to be helped. Some amount of emotional and physical suffering is a normal, unavoidable side effect of life!!! We make it through with the support of others. Allowing someone to end their life as in the situation you commented on above is really sad and totally irresponsible. Brighty

My wife has been on Xanax for 14 years and recently she has heard how terribly addictive they are and dangerous (seizures even while on them. She has been taken 1mg 4x daily and is beginning to aquire quite a tolerance. Last week she decided to
quit, not take anymore and go thru the withdrawals. She had no idea the withdrawals would be so bad. When her doctor found out she quickly called in her prescription and said start taking and we can taper off later. What has me worried is the fact she has been taking Xanax for two days and the withdrawal symptons have not gone away. She is still confused, almost falls over, forgets whatshe was about to say, goes into stupers, bad dreams, and horrible noises in her head, etc. Can anybody please shed some light on what is going on. Does the body/brain have to establish
a certain level again. Thanks Rick

crazy question,,,,, i have been on xanax for years... tried to quit cold turkey,,,,couldnt do it.
went to a detox hospital for 4 days,,,, Dr. gave me 3 different anti depressants,,,felt worse. had to get back on them.
question is . after taking xanax for so long, could that be causing my depression ?
question 2 :  4 days at a hospital to detox off of xanax for so many years of use, I dont thank that was long enough and that is why i felt bad for months after getting off of them. I was still detoxing off of xanax.
any thoughts....

your on a thread from 99 nobody is gonna read it star your own thread cant help with the xanax only ever did 1 a month or so was good though sleep 12- 14 hours when i do them cant get a script because i would be addicted to them
