Your Getting Very Sleepy......

Your Getting Very Sleepy......

NOT!!!!

Ack!  First couple days/nights I was able to sleep like nobody's business which was a new and wonderful thing.  Now I can't get to sleep at all the last two nights have been L-O-N-G!  Last night I even broke down and took 1 of those Lunesta tabs.  Ha!  I don't know where that psychedelic butterfly is hanging out, but it sure wasn't over my bed!

I would really prefer a more natural alternative to this problem if anyone knows one.  My long standing love affair for almost any type of controlled substance found in the form of a pill, tablet, or gel tab makes me real nervous at the thought of being introduced in to this game of cold turkey that I'm playing.  I'm 105 hours cold turkey and feeling pretty good - achy feeling is back to what I know to be normal for rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia symptoms that I expected, creepy crawlies have pretty much subsided, and chills / sweats have much tamed down.  Of course I'm still sneezing my brains out.

Suggestions & comments are welcomed and desired.

Ok, I've tried a few of the aforementioned items found at lovely Wally World to no avail.  So I'm off to score some of this groovy Valarian Root on the WWW and have it EXPRESS MAILED!!!!!  I need sleep.

I've always been afflicted with difficulty sleeping and one of my biggest "fears" is
being unable to sleep.  Can't stand the tossing and turning, the stuff I start thinking about, etc..many years ago I used valiarian root tea and it worked wonderfully (also camiomile (sp?) tea.  Caused a little concern in customs while on a business trip out of the country, but other than that it seemed to work great. Maybe I should try it again when my script for ambien runs out.

valiarian root worked for me years ago when I didnt have access to xanax. I got it at a GNC, and made tea with it. Slept like a baby. It also helped with panic and restless legs too. Give it a try..

GOOD FOR YOU - I'M RIGHT BEHIND YOU,  Slept from 12A to 1A then up until 6A -  fell asleep until 10:30 this a.m   That 4 hour stretch felt good though.  Not feeling bad today, just tired.

hmmm.  Well, I wrote this big fat response to all of you who have been kind enough to help me out, and then screwed up and hit back to forum instead of post a comment.  Jeez.  Three cheers to the wonders of pharmacology that after 115 hrs and 59 minutes Cold Turkey my brain has pulled an Elvis and left the building.  By the way for those of you still doing the mental math -- 115 hrs and 59 minutes is exactly 1 minute shy of 5 full days with NO TRAMADOL.  I'm impressed by that last sentence and equally scared at the same time.

Anyway, the short version of my long lost beautifully penned response is - I will go forth in the a.m. when light dawns and look for the above mentioned suggestions at the wonderful Wally World down round the corner.

I think my original response had a bunch of self directed sarcasm (which is not due to the recent parting from my buddy Trammie but a lifetime personal "quality") as well as a confession of my dosing behavior which after keying in and proofing for quality and content finally pushed me in to that slight state of depression I had evaded in my short term residency in being clean.  I'm going to quick add it back in here because confession is supposed to be good for the soul and for a professional computer geek like me keying it in here and seeing it in written word makes me own my pitiful behavior.

Here goes:  I was a pill popping fool.  I would partake in between 30-35 50mg Tramadol tablets per day, average.  I would take them starting no earlier that 4pm and no later than 6pm (week day schedule only - weekends were a free for all with no guarantee of total count at the end of the night)  I would pop them every 2 hours or so until around 8pm then it would be come an hourly dosing ritual.  I would dose on the hour or half hour - depending - faithfully with generally no less than 4 per dose.  By 10pm it would be between 5-6 tabs, 11pm set would be never less than 6 and no more than 8 (by the way 8 at one time is my limit but can be bumped carefully in 30 minutes with 3-4 more if feeling cheeky), Midnight would see a repeat dose from 11pm, and then the night cap at 1am on the way to bed of 8 tabs, of course.  Yes Virginia, this woman is a flipping idiot!  I guess I didn't really want to admit that I might be the slightest bit out of control until I was dry heaving for the 2nd morning in a row and was wondering when my stomach lining was going to be displayed in the porcelain bowl in front of my face.

Did I mention that I could go through a 240 ct bottle of Trammies (supposed to be a 20 day supply) in usually about 5-6 days?

Enough of this off topic post that was a second attempt at thanking all of you for your suggestions.

Hey look in 1 hr and 45 minutes it will be a full 5 days clean - CT or Bust Baby!

I can so relate to you. I am on day 8 and day 1-3 i couldnt stay awake for more that an hour. Was so sleepy. Now the night the comes and i'm flip-floppin all night. Couldn't take it after 2 nights, over the counter sleep aids didn't help. So unfortunatley I got some zanex and it helped, but i am also worried about doing another addictive drug. Gonna try the melatonin and cut up zanex and take only little piece tonight. So sorry I don't have any great advice. Just wanted you to know you are not alone in this problem. If you find anything that works write me please. Best of Luck

Lolol, your post brought a smile to my face:) I'm not sure on what your DOC was but depending on what it was may be the reason your having this burst of awakfulness. With me, when I would quite taking my pills(tried many times in the past, but so far Im 26 days clean!) I had no problem sleeping, I could sleep and sleep, but when ever I hit the day 4 or so day of being without, I too would have this burst of awakfulness, couldnt sleep for nothing, and that would last for a day or two and then it surpassed, and I then went through some vicious cravings and mindgames. The physical would be gone but my mind kept telling me that I could take just one or just two and be ok since I was clean now.
This may be what your experiencing. If so, then it shouldnt last for more than a couple of days and then your sleeping habits will be normal again, but be for-warned that you may be fixing to do battle with all those mindgames and tricks that your mind keeps playing on you trying to get you to give in. If its a problem, you could try alot of reading maybe? Or maybe the melatonane, that you can buy at the store for sleep thats all natural? Just my 2 cents and my experience in this:)
Hang in there, your doing wonderful!! ((((HUGS)))))

Try some 5HTP - it really does help.  Look it up on google and I got it at WalMart.  1-2 caps prior to bed should give some sleep.  It helps your body use Ltryptophan(the amino acid in turkey that makes you sleepy).  Anyway, its worth a try.  I'm still computer illiterate.  I wish I was as far along as you this is day 3 for me.
