Your return to normalcy

How long did it take YOU to return to normalcy? I am most concerned about the insomnia; I do not do well on not enough sleep. High BP so no NyQuil, etc. It has been a week now and things are still sucking.

hi there.....i don t mean to discourage you but it took me about 2 months to feel really good but i was a heavy user for almost 4 years...everyone is different...you could feel better in another week...depression seemed to hang on but it eventually went away....have you ever heard of melatonin for sleep?...it s a natural hormone...nothing addicting that really helps with sleep.  you can get it at any drug/grocery store.  i could not sleep very well either,,,made me feel awful but after a couple weeks our brains go back to normal and sleep returns....hang in there and good luck to you...maria

37

Hey there I guess I will be the first to comment your question. If your drug of choice is opiates/painkillers then this will be more relative. I got 37 days of clean time in right now. Sleep is the last thing to come back, I entered rehab on the 19th of last month(May) and did it cold turkey without a suboxone regiment. You will feel like hell for about 3 days, things physically started getting better on day 4 and 5. Then what happens is the pink cloud effect kicks in where you are super happy for a few days. After this you will start having post withdrawals which will come and go. On about day 13 is when my sweats, chills, anxiety, and physical pains were gone. I would get a random small headache which I took a Motrin. While I was in rehab I was on 300 mg's of Trazadone which helped me sleep atleast 5-6 hours. On about day 13 or so the Trazadone actually started making me sleep in 8-9 hours and I felt groggy the rest of the day so I quit taking it. My sleep is back to normal now and I physically feel great. The only thing that hasn't lifted yet is depression that comes and goes along with being really unmotivated, I have been forcing myself to get in the sun as much as I can and to be active(bike rides, skateboarding, swimming, mild workouts). Also the mental fog and the blurred vision hasn't cleared up yet, I am still VERY forgetful and have a hard time remembering things but as far as I know from what I was told is that from abusing opiates for 4 years, my mind isn't just going to go back to normal in a couple of weeks, a month or even two months. But I can say things get better as the days go on that I am clean. One day at a time, make short term goals.

I hope this helped. If you have any questions shoot me a message.
