Zoloft and Wds from Roxys

Hi. I was prescribed Zoloft a couple days ago and am currently on day 13 ct wd from roxys. I was feeling better physically, at least enough to sleep a couple hours at a time, then I started the Zoloft and last night I felt like I was back at Day 2 of wd?? Are these side effects? Racing mind, rapid heartbeat, sweaty palms, migraine, back ache.... By NO MEANS was I over the hump definately emotionally but everything came back so hard and fast. I put a call in to my dr this morning but no response and I'm trying to decide if I should not take the Zoloft tonight or should I?

I def slept better and the side effects from the AD meds stopped. Ill keep the rollercoaster until day 90 and if still mood swing bad ill revisit the AD meds. I'm not in the clear but taking that Zoloft brought me right back to feeling like I was at day 2 of WDs!!! TERRIBLE! I'm going to take my chances with the bad days an hope the good ones come soon. Thanks all! I could NOT be doin this without everyone on here and that's SO TRUE!! This is the only place I have to talk about my experiences.

I, personally, think that since you haven't suffered with depression prior to now that you should refrain from taking the AD. It's always best to not only talk to your doctor but to also do your own research :). Hope you're having a better day today!

After all said.... Should I be honest with my dr about not wanting to take the AD meds? Seems like she only thinks the Valium should be taken with them b/c she says they work hand in hand. Or should I just try her next recommendation and try 12.5 mg Zoloft per day starting again Friday?

Oh so true... It gets to be a 2nd job (or shall I say 1st priority job) instead of fun. Then it takes all your money and ruins who you really are as a person and made me just plain mean as hell personally :-(

Isnt that the main reason a addict like anything there on it makes em superman/women. you can do anything for any amount of time lol. I loved those days but then you need more and more and the fun stops.

Part of the reason I loved the opioids is b/c I could talk to ANYONE without my anxiety and didn't mind the OCD b/c I ha the energy for it.... :-(

I've been diagnosed with aghoriphobic anxiety and mild OCD the last 13 years and prescribed Xanax. This dr said she thought it was more social anxiety and switched me from Xanax to Valium and prescribed the Zoloft b/c she said it would work from the bottom up with the anxiety and OCD while the Valium works to keep the overstimulation at bay in a more immediate manner. In the past I've tried a ton of the older AD meds for these issues and none of it has worked. Pre addict to opioids my anxiety and OCD was manageable at 1mg Xanax every 24 hours (1/4 of what I wa prescribed so it laste 4 mos for one month script). Right now I'm needing 2mg every 24 hours and anxiety and sleep is not better but manageable. I'm not taking the Zoloft again after hearing all your great input. I've always been perfectly ok on my 1mg every 24 hours with every now an then maybe needing a half if in an extreme situation causing panick attacks. Never been depressed prior to wds though.... Maybe the normal every now and then life issues get me down like they would everyone else but I always felt that I be normal and it'd always pass fairly quickly.

HI, during acute w/d's are brains/bodies are literally stuttering/traumatized & attempting to start the healing process. Our neurotransmitters & receptors are in chaos. Serotonin is a major part of this & AD's affect Serotonin processes in the brain & gut. That's why it's probably best to wait until well after detox to get on an anti-depressant (unless you have been diagnosed with depression.) It's a normal part of detox to feel depressed & anxious. It just takes some time to come out of it -- to heal. I know it's hard to sit with uncomfortable feelings but that's the biggest part of recovery down the line!

Do you have a history with depression or are you just now dealing with it while withdrawling? If it's the latter I wouldn't take an AD and give your body time to heal. 30 days is a good number but 90 days is better. I'm sorry you're struggling mentally. It does get better.

I finally talked to the dr.... She wants me to stop them until Friday then take half of what I took, which is a VERY low dose. She had started me on 25 mg now wants me to try 12.5 mg a day starting Friday. If I'm not feeling like I did last night tonight I may disagree with the dr and not take them... Just wait to see if my mood changes once I get to 30 days.... Should 30 days be a good judging point? I'm only at 13 so its still more than double time!! Ugh!

Zoloft did the same thing to me BEFORE opiates.  ADs take alot of hit & miss   I finally found prozac and it has none of those side effects    Might be best to hold off till the withdrawals get less

15 is better than 10 and Im sure 16 will be even better. Still lacking motivation and energy and SLEEP. I look back to the first couple of days and see a huge improvement. Its going to take time. We just have to fight thru the bad to get to the good. Im constantly playing head games with myself. Whenever I feel crappy I try and phsyc myself out of it. Even speaking out loud sometimes lol. Whatever we have to do right. Youll get thru it! Day to day!!

Thanks! Seeing as my dr never called me back I'm NO WAY taking it tonight in hopes my physical stuff goes back to what it was AT LEAST! How is Day 15? Around day 10 I didn't think I could handle the feelings anymore and the dr promised the Zoloft was not addictive and now I'm also reading it is?? And does have wds?? So confused?! Seemed like last night was the worst yet and from side effects of Zoloft rather than wds....

I posted here a couple of minutes ago but it didnt show up? Lol hope Im not repeating myself. I was prescribed Cymbalta and it made me feel exactly like the Zoloft did for you. Drove my anxiety thru the roof as well as my depression. I took it the first day, day 10 and havent taken it since. On day 15 now. Thought it to be better to do this naturally and use all these ill feelings as a tool to NOT go back to these evil pills. Im still feeling depressed although not nearly as bad as I was 5 days ago. Give it time without the AD is my opinion. They take 4+ weeks to start working properly and thats just another 4 weeks of me popping a pill that may or may not help. Keep the strentgh!
