a lil bak up here, tryn 2 cut pain meds

Hello.. I'm tired of this roller coaster of addiction.  I want to quit.  I have tried a couple times but can't take the physical withdraw.  I thought if had a lil help I can get through this.  NO ONE know about my problem... Absolutely no one!! I've had it for over 11 yrs. I have cut back the roxi & no more oxi, percs and morphine.  I am only on the roxi 30mg but it's pretty bad.  I'm was takin 14-16 at a time 2 sometime 3x a day and taking 3-4 here and there between the 2-3x a day. I was averaging 38 roxi 30mg a day.  I have cut that bak the last week or so to almost half & stickin to 6-8 2x a day. The last couple days I have cut back to 3-4 2x a day I'm trying to cut it down to 3-4 1x a day or 2-3 2x a day, not sure if I can cut it to only 1x  a day Lookin back I'm thinking how crazy was and how much money I was  spending on a days worth.. WOW!!! Few  hundred $$ a day habit.

Hi & Welcome,

You were on a high dose there and have cut back pretty quickly. I am sure you are feeling the withdrawal at this point. Tapering is hard but if you can continue to cut down until you decide to stop, that would be great.

One thing I can suggest for the taper is not to take more than 1 pill at a time. If you are down to 8 pills a day, let's say, then spread those out over the time you are awake, like every two hours. Taking more than one at a time"spikes" your dose and it is harder to taper when doing that.

When you are feeling the symptoms and are sick, there are several things you can do to ease the discomfort. First, go to the top of this page and on the right hand side are the health pages. In there is the Amino Acid Protocol and The Thomas Recipe which contain supplements that can be purchased locally. Second, take as many hot baths as you can. You will be feeling muscle aches and the baths do help. Add epsom salt to the bath, it is very soothing. Stay hydrated--very important. A drink like Gatorade would be helpful. Try and keep food down if you can. Exercise. Even a short brisk walk will help with the leg cramps.

Lastly, hang around here and listen and talk with the members. It helps to talk through it and it helps to know you are not alone.

Hang in there.

I am proud of you for getting back down to a smaller amount... every step counts! The amount you were taking was dangerous! and had to be hard on your liver.  You are making a great choice.  Great job. It is so hard to make it through the withdrawals but being serious enough to cut down that much is great! Keep on working and stay strong!

great advice. i think it should be named the saint thomas recipe because i've done it with, and without it. with it is way gentler. i didn't really need more than one pill at a time. try and get down to just enough. you may be surprised. best of luck! peace, sway
