a question about tramadol

im just wondering, i see more and more ppl here having addictions to tramadol, and my last doctors visit he tryed to make me go on it again!!!, im just wondering why isnt this drug a triplicate or whatever they call it prescription, and why is my doctor so set on me taking it after my addiction to oxys? is it not really all that bad? i know ppl have told me here that it is so why dosnt my doctor think so, i even got a second opinion from another doctor at his office and he too said its not a narcotic and was the only thing other than oxys he would prescribe me. i have taken it once and it gave me a hard panic attack and rash that i had to go to the er and its in my file but he still wants me to try it again, i just dont get it

I would be happy for you to print out my experience with tramadol and show to your Dr. but I am only one person,  follow this link to another website that has many personal testimonies about tramadol:
http://www.rsdalert.co.uk/drugs/Tramadol.htm.
I think that this one would be great to print off and hand to your Doc!

you know i actually think the owners of this website should contact 60 minutes and do a story man so many of us could write up our issues with having it pushed on us, and then the unfortunate ones that had to basically be lab rats ! and didnt have the info we all have now on it.

OMG if I read one more post about how the Dr.'s call this drug non-narcotic and non-addictive I am going to LOSE it!!!  lol  Seriously, a lot of docs don't know it yet, but you wait, give it some time and soon we'll be watching some speical on "60 Minutes" and the horrors of tramadol JUST WAIT.  Probably some nazi ******* who created this shi*.  STAY away from it.  Enough said!

Im having minor surgery soon and my dr. knows about my addiction and he too said he would give me tramadol after. i said no because of what i have read here about it but he still said it was "non addictive". I can't believe that Dr's don't know this.

Sarah- no way I know it could easily turn into an addiction and just never really cared for them -and thank you for the concern-been sticking to aleve for back, if you get a chance read my last journal abt slip up with vics.
Gm-Im not really sure why I never got caught by them Im actually thinking that since i never got a "high" from them that I didnt abuse them, i am sure it would be a different story if I did. Heather

I have been on every oxy since a year a go when I had hysterectomy complications. I was also sent home from the hospital on hydro morphine. I have never had any problems with addiction to ANYTHING until a few months ago when I was prescribed tramadol for pain. After being on it for a couple of weeks, I didn't take it because I was pain free one day. That night I had cold sweats, restless legs, abdominal pain and vomiting-it was far worse than just laying up all night with pain! the next morning I took another tramadol, still not realizing the source of the hell that I had just been through, and within minutes, I was just fine again. So I resumed taking them but found that I had to increase dosage for pain control. After a couple of months, the Dr denied my refill due to dose increase.  He again stated that these were non-narcotic and non habit forming. He also stated that I should not have any withdrawal symptoms and didn't need to taper. I was on 50 mg tablets. I took two morning and evening. 4 total a day when the Dr denied my refill. Without the tram, I went into full withdrawal. I had such stabbing abdominal pain that I couldn't stand. Panic attacks, cold sweats and muscle tremors. You are bedridden for at least 3 days and forget sleeping-that will not happen. Thank God I had a nurse friend that took pity on me and gave me meds to keep from going into seizures and allowed me to get SOME sleep. I have been without tram for 9 days now. My body still aches so bad for the drug but I can at least make it through the day with a semi normal routine. Most people are saying that I will not feel normal again for at least 30 days. Stay away from tramadol no matter what you have to do. You are very smart to question whether or not you want to go down this path, believe me you DON'T, it leads you to a hell.

No one could ever, ever, ever make me take that!!!!!  It will take you out if you use it.  I've detoxed off of many drugs, and none were as hard as tramadol.  (xanax was a close second and so was ambien, but that's another story for another day!!!!)

Please listen to me.......find another doctor!

sarah, he has been tellin me to try it for the past year the first time i did cuz i didnt know n e thing about it, i took it one time and got weird effects so havnt yet again, im not even considering taking it, im just wondering y he keeps pushing it? and want to understand more about it, and he isnt still prescribing me oxy's cuz im trying to stay off them, i just know he will if i get bad again, which i have, but still havnt gone for a script, im tryin just motrin and excersise and its ok but duno for how long b4 i just cant deal but havnt givin up yet... thank you,
cleanitup, do u think maybe its cuz the vic over rode the effects of the tramodol so u didnt really have issues? i just ask cuz i think thats y i never had issues with t3's they just dont do n e thing for my after my history with oxy's, seems theres just so many ppl on here with issues with tram, i have asked my doctor if he would take a look at this website and see for him self the patients how suffer with tramadol then maybe he would understand my concerns you know?

I have been on and off it through the years along with the vicodin and I never had a problem with it.Vicodin big prob. I do remember my doc saying it was a non narcotic and non habit forming.I guess those pharmicutical (sp) reps got the docs believing it.

The doctor cant make you take something you dont want to.  If your doctor knows you are an addict why is he still offering to give you oxy's or trams?  I would be looking at another doctor who isnt so pill happy.  Having a doc that is willing to still give you pain meds is not a good thing, for you.
