You all are hilarious! Knocking on Adderall, yet for appropriate conditions such as ADD/ADHD it can be a wonderful drug.  I myself can attest to that, I never finished a novel in my life until college.  I hated to read, ironically my mother is an LD teacher and always had me tutored in reading. Even so I never learned to enjoy reading until about 4 years ago when I became prescribed to Adderall.  My mom and doctor always knew I was ADHD as a child (I believe the hyperactivity went away with maturity, so ADD now), but wanted to see if I could go without the drugs.  Through earnest effort I endured, but it was incredibly tough.  Once prescribed, it was like it opened up an entirely new world for me.  I could concentrate on text for more than a few pages without throwing it down, badly wanting to do something else!  Since being prescribed reading has become not only a fun little hobby, but one of my passions.  The medication isn't for everyone, and I don't want to make it sound like it is, but it frustrates me when people only present one side of the story.  I recognize that it is probably used by more people than it should be, but that doesn't mean it is a bad drug, or that it doesn't give vast benefits to those that it's intended for.  Along with making reading a hobby it has helped cultivate me into the person I am, many people don't know that people who are ADHD or ADD also often have social difficulties, for instance, I was too impulsive, and often couldn't stay in a relationship for long because my connection with a particular female would eventually fade.  Anyways, I must go, I need to study for the LSAT, I TAKE IT IN 3 DAYS!!

A great deal of prescription drugs can be addictive. Adderall is one of them. It is a CNS stimulant unlike opiates which are CNS depressants. Adderall increases dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. When you take a drug that increases certain neurotransmitters your body will eventually stop producing them in normal amounts which causes withdrawal when the drug is stopped suddenly until the body can start producing its normal amounts of the neurotransmitters again. If it is abused it can cause psychological dependence. It is made up of different amphetamine salts and is a Schedule II controlled substance which means it has a high potential for abuse. Often college students ask their doctors for it to help them concentrate better and longer and to help them stay alert after drinking alcohol.

i  know that adderall is highly addicting ..i have a friend who used it for about a yr..She actually got on it because she was in college and it kept her alert and was able to make the grade..She lost a lot of weight on it and told me she could drink alot more on it without getting sick, and had the most energy..She said she could stay up all night and study and make a 4.0..The bad news is when she tried to get off she went through hell..She said it was nothing compared to opiates..WORST..She is still trying to get off and can't..So if i were you i would stay away from it.
just my opinion , and hope this helps

hiya.Adderall(dexamphetemine)has serious abuse potential.WDs are mostly phsycological but still extreme. My November 2006 New Ethicals contraindicates this drug in people with a history of drug abuse.Apparently using this med while on MAOI's can be life threatening.Unless u r narcoleptic or have properly diagnosed ADD/ADHD,i suggest u leave this stuff alone.take care.
