I'm 8weeks pregnant&have been on suboxone for 5yrs I've been shooting my prescribed suboxone for about 5 yrs,  now I'm pregnant scared&can't stop. I want rehab But have 2 older kids&no help from family or their father. I'm to pretty&smart to b using a needle. U wud never know I'm a user because I keep up on my apperance.I don't cover my arms or legs like most junkies do. I have a home a car a job I'm well off except for this huge mountain I need to climb. Being pregnant I can't quit subozone says my Dr. I'm now on subutex but I'm still shooting. I need help ASAP. The dependency is killing me I've ruined my body. Getting blood work is impossible I have no vains left. God forbid I need surgery or dialysis. any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Just to clarify, who told you to stay on the suboxone...the suboxone doctor or your OB? I agree that you need to let your OB know what you're doing. By coming here you've shown that you're a good mom who wants to do what's best for your child; I'm sure you're scared and embarrassed, but I suspect most doctors have heard it all and will be happy to help you through this. Hi Echo Welcome to the forum..  I need to repeat what everyone else has said to get rid of your rig.. really just crush the damn thing and take your meds orally.. I was pregnant when I was a junkie. I was in a foster home and I would meet my junkie bf and we would get high together The guilt of what I was doing to the child inside me was terrible.. I was much like you I did not have to hide it as I took very good care but we can not hide the effects inside our body our brain. I''m now on dialysis this is where my addiction has lead me.. Break your rig Throw it away You can do this for the sake of your child you are carrying I know you can.. NA meetings would be very helpful for you also a addiction therapist would be good but today right now Break the rig take your meds by mouth and deal with the cravings thru meetings our a pastor our therapist. Are your plans to remain on the Subutex? I wish you well. Please keep posting for support There is a Great group of peps here that are very knowledgeable and supportive.. lesa

I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Talk very honestly with your OB and see if he can give you a better plan. You need to pull it together for the sake of this innocent little baby. You need to do everything you have to make its birth as safe and pain free as possible. Please see your doctor. See, this is what I don't get about subs and methadone. Why are addicts allowed to stay on these drugs long term? They are meant to use short term in conjunction with a serious program.  I wish you and the baby well, and hope you can stop shooting up. You need to talk with your OB about this ASAP.  I am also going to get a hold of someone i know on here who knows the addiction to the needle also.

So your doc says you have to stay on your subs for the term of the pregnancy, correct?  And you're shooting the subs, which is the core of your problem?  That's what you'd like help with?  I have no experience with shooting so I may not be the right person.  If I were in your situation I'd stop shooting it.  If you are not able to do that I'd try to taper off the needle.  Somehow you've got to stop shooting.  I'm pretty uncomfortable suggesting a taper off the needle but it seems we have very limited options as you've described them.  I think you should talk to an addiction specialist not involved with your treatment right now.  You need to know your options and the risks since there's another life involved here.  I'm afraid that if you tell your Sub doc you've been injecting them, that may be the end of your subs.

Hi  and welcome to the forum....well the first thing you need to do is let your obgyn know what is going on b/4 you do anything in most cases it is dangerous to detox wile pregnant....they may want to switch you over to a opiet that has a short acting 1/2 life and bring you off very slowly ...we have other members go threw pregnancy full term and the babys where fine some did have addicted babys and the hospital had to detox the babys  but not always honesty is the best policy for the both of you I dont quit understand why your shooting it..?? are your getting high doing it ?? ether way you need to stop taking it that way ....we have a lot of members who have been on sub and have gotten off it so others will be by with sub experence this forum is priceless with the support you get it is a little slow on the weekends so check your post after a few hours....just know your not in this alone where hear to help you and your baby will be fine  hang in there and post often may God be with you.......................Gnarly
