You also might want to touch base with your OB doctor too......
Secondly, a taper is in your best interest. Talk with your dr. If you are not able to take them EXACTLY as the dr prescribes to do the taper, you MUST tell them.
Thirdly, I was prescribed percocet throught my ENTIRE pregnancy. My nationally accredited peri-natal specialist prescribed them for me. I never took more than I was prescribed and I was honest from day one. I did manage to stop about 7 weeks before my daughter was born because I didn't want her to have withdrawals, BUT, if your dr KNOWS you have been taking them and KNOWS you have been prescribed the medication evenif the baby is born adicted and goes through withdrawals, they can make it very VERY easy and comfortable to get the baby OFF the narcotic and treat the withdrawal symptoms, but ONLY IF THEY KNOW. ANd NO, they will NOT take your baby from you as long as you're honest.
They routinely take blood from mother's while they are carrying but it usually isn't to drug test.
Talk to your dr, do the taper because stopping cold turkey is quite dangerous to you and the baby. The amount of stress that your body would undergo could be too much for the fetus and you could very easily miscarry.
And one last thing, my daughter was born VERY healthy and NOT addicted and she has con tinued to be a wonderfully bright and healthy little girl.
Good luck to you!!!
