HI I agree with avisg tell your dr....im personal friends with a neo/natal nurse that brings babys off heroin methadone oxy ext and Jenny is very caring and non judgmental all they want is whats best for the baby...I detoxed on the baby formula for getting off methadone
and it works well its just important so they can be prepared they will need to know how much your taking to ween the baby off when it comes....there is no comfortable way to ween yourself off 30 or 40 ml in a month time and even doing it slow has its pains so your going to have to deliver your baby on it ...everything will be fine just so your honest with the dr and delivery personnel there has been plenty of wemen who have healthy babys after delivering on methadone we have seen quite a few come thew the forum and have had wemen with the experience post...good luck and God bless
thank you all so so much. i just didnt no what to do. and i have read so much on here but am afraid of people to judge me n you all have been such big helps thanks again
Avis is right, if you don't say anything your baby will be born fully addicted and experience full blown withdrawls, if something happens to your baby because you wouldn't let them know you'll never forgive yourself. Don't let that baby suffer the withdrawls you've been unable to stand yourself. The doctor Must know so he can give the proper meds to the baby once born to help him through wothdrawl. Please please call the obgyn asap. Your baby comes first and his safety. If u tell them now it looks a lot better then letting them find out at birth. (and they would definitely figure it out. Babies experiencing the pain of withdrawl have a distinct high pitch scream and tremors.) it's horrible so don't put your baby through that and tell your doc right away. Please keep us updated.
CONTACT YOUR OBGYN NOW jumping off of 30 to 40 mg of methadone in your 8th month could very easily put you into premature labor .If you tell the doctor the truth they will help you if you don't and the baby show positive for opiates THATS when cps is called .Think about it it u are feeling the wd so is your baby. Many mothers are put on methadone when they are addicted to other drugs durning pregnancy's it considered to be one of the safer meds however that does not mean you baby wont have WDs .The hospital HAS to know so they can treat the baby.I know you are scared but you have to put the needs of your baby before your fear .
