I am almost 7 months pregnant and addicted to oxycontin, Ive quit cold turkey in the past but I was told that its not safe to quit cold turkey while pregnant. I have weaned myself down slowly but Im still using about 60 mgs on a bad day and 30 to 40 on better days. Ive had a lot more bad days lately where im in so much pain I cant handle it and the withdrawls get so bad I want to crawl into a hole and hide. I know that oxys are not safe for me or my baby but I'm having the hardest time stepping myself down lower then 30mgs a day without feeling like I'm going insane  If anyone has any advice on other ways to deal with the pain and the withdrawls I would greatly appreciate it.

First and for most you NEED to tell your doctor if you have not .I realize it is scary but it is what is best for your baby. They will help you with a taper program to get you off safely and if its to late to get all of the way off it  they will let you know that as well and help you get down to a much lower dose.Doctors work with many ladies with addiction often .      This wont be anything new for them.Good luck it will all be OK.
