alcohol abuse and valuim use

My husband is an alcoholic. H drinks 30+ beers a day. He has been told to stop drinking or it will kill him. That was last year. He has only increased his drinking, "why not he's going to die anyway". I think he is now taking Valium as well as drinking that much. My question is what does that do to his already compromised liver?

therapeutic doses of diazepam arent especially toxic on the liver.combining liquer and benzos is extremely dangerous and is the leading cause of accidental od.the problem is that they potentiate each other exponentially resulting in respiratory depression,causing death.on their own benzos and booze are relatively safe but combined u really hav a recipee 4 disaster.my point is, future damage to his liver is negligible compared with the lifethreatening risk of combining these substances.

Hey, this is not going to answer your question and I apologize that I can do that.  I can tell you however you need some kind of support and I suggest checking out this web site http://www.al-anon.org There shoudl be a lot of great support for you there.  My parents are both active in al-anon, with me being a recovering acoholic.  once again I apologize I could not answer your quesiton.

Thank You for the couple of replies I received. both were very helpful. I'm just trying to figure out what to do about the situation now.
He refuses to get help, and the only time he's even somewhat rational is in the AM when he first gets up. I'm just so tired of talking about it only to have to repeat the conversation tomarrow because he doesn't remember the 1st conversation. thats the way most of our conversations go. It's very frustrating, and scarry watch him do this to himself.
