Hi, my son is recovering from heroin addition.  At least I think he is.  He talks to me very seldom.  He talks when he is in great pain; physical (from withdrawal) and emotional (from feelings of being worthless).
I agree that it is HIS recovery problem.  If I tell him what to do, and then he does it, he will probably feel that he can't take care of himself, and get into another depression. I am really trying to figure out how to help without making things worse.

Hey,

First, I see that I typed you were off of H for 7 years. I meant 7 days. I can't type after 8 pm.

Anyway, I wanted to say Good Morning and bump this up in hopes you will come back and know that members have responded to you and are here to help you and support you. Like bmdad mentioned, and it is so true, it does not matter what our DOC is..we are all addicts and share one common goal which is to get clean and live our lives.

So give us a shout out and let us know you are okay!!

I have never used heroin and do not know much about it. You have came to a great forum to find people to talk with and share with you their experiences. I have vics and soma addiction up to 20- 25 of each everyday. I can share and listen to anything you would like to talk about.as far as our mutual friend (ADDICTION0. I just started suboxone today. Right now I am feeling better than I have in over 10 yrs or more. I was going to be one of those statistics ODing if I did not reach out for help.and found some great answers

I would have no idea what drug you should use to clean up you addiction asap. I have heard about heroin addicts switching from Meth to  Suboxone. I just started suboxone today for my opiate addcition. First day complete and I feel great so soon after starting. I wish you all the luck in the world that you conquer your monsterist disease. Lets us know what you decide..

I switched between H and oxy through my addiction but have been clean for 16 months now. I didn't use a maintainance drug and Im very glad I didn't, one less monkey to eventually her off my back. NA saved my life and introduced me to many life long friends, I recommend it to everyone on here.

Although I've never used heroin we do have one thing in common and that's being addicts. I started off taking 5mg vicodin for a back injury and later graduated to taking at most 5, 80mg oxycontin per day. So although I do not know heroin, I do know addiction.
Just wanted to welcome you to the forum and wish you the best of luck in your recovery. If you ever are on the verge of relapse do yourself a favor and get on here and post. All of the wonderful people here will remind you of the fight you fought to get clean and talk you right out of it!
Best of luck to you and congrats on the first clean week with many more to follow!

Hi & Welcome,

Glad you found this site.

Heroin is my DOC and I fought that monster for almost 20 years. I know the hell of it robbing you of everything.

Since you have been off 7 years I am wondering why you feel you need a maintenance drug at this point. You are pst the physical withdrawal for the most part, right? My fear for you is that you will get stuck on that drug and end up back on H.

If you have insurance I suggest in patient treatment to help you with the mental part of this deadly disease.

I am off to bed but would be happy to talk with you about my experience with rehab, getting clean from H, etc. If you feel comfortable enough, send me a message and maybe we can talk tomorrow? But listen to others experiences as well.

Stick around. Be good to yourself tonight. Hope to talk with you tomorrow.
