almost died in surgery

hi everyone, just a little of what happened..I ended up hemmerging after surgery lost a lot of blood and had to have a blood transfusion..I did not tell about my hydo's because i didn't want to get labeled.Well my pain was so terrible and when they came in and told me one lortab every 4 hours i just cryed..Why have i done this..Now i am scared to death to ever have pain again because it takes so much to work..Thank god i brought some in my purse, when hubby was sleeping i would take an extra..It didn't help much but a little..What are we suppose to do if we have severe pain?? i was suppose to start tapering now but my blood pressure is so bad from needing blood that i am scared to do it being so sick?? any advice?

Geez girl I am so sorry this happened.. you poor thing.. how many are you taking per day now.. how many do you have to taper with??  Is your blood pressure low from getting blood or high??

road2recovery, sorry to hear things did not go well . I am glad you made it thru .There were lots of people worried about you . Do the best you can for now and take the pills when you need them . Then typer when you are he pain is not so bad  get lots of rest .Are you on a blood pressure med to control it ?

before surgery i was taking between 7 to 11 a day of the 10mgs..now i am taking about 6 to 7..but now i have real pain..I had very low blood pressure in the hospital from losing so much blood, well going through w/ds makes you have high blood pressure ..So at the end it was going up and down..I don't know what to do..i had to get 6 units of blood and you only have 8 in your body.
i am so scared to be in pain again, how are we ever going to get off this rollercoaster.

oh i forgot another thing, i am only 37 yrs old and it was just a hysterectomy and i also had a mild heartache from all the blood i lost..So now i have to see a heart doctor..But the whole thing was becasue that night i felt horrible and my chest was so heavy and the nurse never called my doctor , by the time they called him i was almost dead ..i was suppose to be in there for 2 days and i was there for 10 days...i don't think the hydros had anything to do with that whole thing but it deffinetly had everything to do with me hurting so bad, and needing to much because i took to much.

OMG--how old are you?? yes i am not doing good with having 6 pints of other peoples blood in me..My family wants me to go talk to someone..I cry all the time...the only difference with me is the hospital did not catch that i was bleeding, they let me go like that until the next morning..My chest was so heavy it felt as though an elephant was standing on it..Then later i found out i had a mild heart attack from lost of blood..Did anything happen to your heart from losing so much blood??? i am so lucky to be alive also and thoguht i was going to die. i cry alot..i am very confused..I have no energy and wonder if you do?
are you still using? i am but not alot becasue i am in pain..

i'm sorry you had to go through all of this, but at the same time i really needed someone to talk to that can understand how i'm feeling!!!! i'm only 32 yrs old. YES...i'm so tired, i have NO energy, yesterday i started to go upstairs and change my clothes, i got up to the 4th stair and i swear the staircase looked like it went on forever into the sky it was so overwelming i turned around and came back down. i feel extrememly fatigued...and CONFUSED??? YES I AM TOO!!!! i'm struggling to mentally handle what happened, plus i forget everything, its like stuff just falls right out of my head, i cant find the words i'm trying to say...completely blank.  as far as using pain meds, i have too. since pain causes your blood pressure to rise and also creates stomach tension and acid, my doctor doesnt want me in ANY PAIN AT ALL!!!! he doesnt want to risk anything that will irritate or flare up my ulcers. he actually upped my dose from 10 mg hydrocodone to 15mg of oxycodone for the next 6-8 weeks.

OMG...since you havent been around you probably havent heard what happened to me...last friday night/saturday morning i had a bleeding ulcer i didnt know about and i lost 7 pints of blood!!!! they told me if i would have waited another hour i would have died... i'm still very fatigued from the transfusion so i'm gonna copy and paste me original post:

Friday i started not to feel so well, but like always i assumed it was my Endometriosis flaring up. My stomach had been upset and i was running a low-grade fever all day friday. Friday night aroung 5:30 pm i threw up alot of blood, i called my Dr's office but he had gone home already and the nurse advised me to go straight to the ER, well, i of course didnt listen (i found out later I wasnt thinking "clearly" cause of my loss of blood) so instead I went to bed Friday night around 7:30pm and tossed and turned all night with some pain, but nothing "extreme". i woke up saturday morning at 5:30 am to pee and on my way back to bed, i got the worse pain ever in my life!!!! i went back to the bathroom and was crying (screaming) had cold-sweats and tons of blood was coming out "that end" (sorry its kinda gross). my sister woke up got my boyfriend to come in the bathroom by me to see what was wrong. by this time i thought i was seriously dying. i honestly dont remember much from that point on, except i slipped down the stairs and my b/f luckily caught me. by this time i couldnt walk. i was "in and out" of it in the ER so i only remember "bits and pieces" of alot.

Basically i had 2 bleeding ulcers, i didnt know about, and i lost 7 pints of blood. they put me to sleep and looked in my stomach, took pictures (which they showed me) and cauterized the ulcers. then they gave me a blood transfusion. the dr. said if another hour or so would have gone by, i would have died. so i am very grateful to be alive right now.

SO thats what happened to me...i really want to talk to you more about what happened to you, how your feeling now after having a blood transfusion, any side effects you may have like crazy fatigue, and if your having a hard time dealing w/ coming so close to dying (its been hard for me to absorb it all)
