also weening off percocet

I hate these withdrawls!!! I have been on 10/325 percocet since I had a hysterectomy last Dec, and another surgery last month. I am still in pain, but cannot live this way either. Any idea on how many days this will last? I have been trying to ween off them, but think it might be better to just stop. My doctor wants to put me in pain mngmnt. but I fear that will just be more medications.

for most addicts..weaning off or tapering is not gonna work...not if u have control of the meds///cos u dont have control of the meds or u wouldnt be an addict...so it is like putting chocolate in the house when ur dieting....and u love chocolate..chances r u will break down and eat a piece of chocolate...keeping the substance u abuse can be hard..if not impossible for some...planning a day to be done, flushing what u have and cutting off suply/which often means telling ur dr...is often what the final result is after someone tries to taper and feels like a complete loser..but dont feel that way..u r trying...and u r getting there..u r seeing what will work the best for u...cos we r all different..i was a taper disaster..but u know i learned one thing for sure from trying it...that i have no control over narcotics....so nothing learned is ever wasted..make a plan that works for u and kep us posted..what was ur daily dose?

weening off is a better idea than CT. im only in day 3 and weened off of hydro 10's i had been taking for a little over a year. it was hard, i had to give my pills to someone else to hold onto so i wouldnt take them as often. i held on to a half of one for my second day, took it, felt better, and am still feeling better than i think i would if i hadnt taken that half. but the symptoms are still here, and its just a matter of time till they go away, i hope!! so good luck to you and keep us all posted on your decision

Going CT is no worse than having the flu. Mine only lasted about 4 days. I was taking allot of norco for 3 yrs! So you may not have it as bad. Now I'm playing the mind games. I'm in so much pain I want to get my Rx filled and just take the prescribed amount. Of course I know I can't do this, but the craving is still there even if it comes and goes. You can do it. Look at all who have made it so far. You can be one of them too.
