angry withdrawal

Hello,
I have been taking Paxil 20mg for three years. In this time I have also been in group and individual therapy for attachment and co-dependency work. Recently I started taking Vyvance 30mg for adult ADD and wanted to see if I could ween myself off of the Paxil. I cut the dosage in half for two weeks. I did not experience any of the flu like symtoms, but I distinctly noticed an increase in irritation, anger, and had one rage episode the second week. Suppressed anger, resentment, and bitterness was an area I started dealing with from the beginning of therapy and haven't had that kind of anger for a long time, is this normal.

My ex was on first concerta and then vyvance for adhd. He was a lot more irritable, hateful and angry. He also was in therapy for those issues. So maybe the paxil was cancelling out these side effects from the adhd meds.

hello and welcome to mh. you should work out a taper plan with your doctor. i dont think you should have cut the dose in half. those increase in your emotions is normal for paxil. is the same doctor prescribing both meds?  are you taking the paxil for depression? the vyvance could definitely also cause an increase in your irritation, anger and rage. i would definitely talk with your doctor.
