anxiety-Xanax question

i had anxiety before i started taking Xanax probably from all the drinking i was doing so my doctor said take xanax when you get anxiety and ativan to sleep and i did for so long now im hooked on xanax i have taperd down to 1.5mg a day so i got to keep going because if i stop coldturkey i go insane and lose my mind horriable anxiety crazy thoughts the list goes on and on so the anxiety from the withdrawls is that how i will feel once free from xanax or is the really bad anxiety i get when i stop trying to take it how i will feel all the time
