anxiety and withdrawl

by momonhydros, Mar 25, 2003 12:00AM
just a question, i have lopressor for high blood pressure and was wondering if that would help with withdrawl anxiety? i suffer from panic attacks and im deathly afraid to go though withdrawl because of the freakin anxiety. im so afraid to start having panic attacks again when i stop taking the hydros since withdrawl causes anxiety. i think my doc is going to stop writing my scripts for lortab and tell me i need to have the disk surgery. so i was wondering if that may work or what about valerian the herb? wont tell doc im addicted hes kind of a jerk i know hell cut me right off. anyone who could answer that would be great thanks guys.

Hi there,
i know exactly how you feel...i just posted about the anxiety too. it is horrible. i have been off meds for about 20 hours and i am so anxious that i feel like i am going out of my mind!!!i cant sit still and i feel like i am going to jump right out of my skin. my advice would be to wean. i dont know how many pills you are taking or how many you have left, but if you have enough left then i would wean. i am not an expert, although there are a lot of people on this forum who are pretty close, but i would say start cutting your dose by a half or one full pill for a few days, then a little more every couple of days. ask thomas, though because he gives excellent advice. how many do you have left? say you are taking five a day, then tomorrow i would take four and a half, and then in about 5or 6 days i would take four, then five or six days later start taking three and a half, you get the picture. maybe thomas or someone can help you  write up a little schedule.  can you have someone you trust hold the medicine and only give it to you at the scheduled time? that would probably be your best bet.  well good luck and write back if you want or need to.         emmy22

S'cuse me for butting in on a thread here, but I am (in my vvv Humble judgment) Mid- (and Finall!!?!!Taper.

I have done well, as well as I can, and am down to this: 3  Vicodin ES (taking 2 per day, down from 15) and 2 other pills which i think???? are Oxycodone.

These unidentified pills are red/white capsules and i +think+ they say "Barr 658" on them.

I do not have a PDR, so I am at a loss to identify them. Can anyone help/assist in identification? I am not of the ilk to swallow unknown meds.

I am, as I said, now taking 2 Vicodin ES per day (and with these +possible new+ narcotics, I am hoping to stave the worst of the withdrawals by taking 2 tomorrow (Vike ES) and one Vike ES Thurs (along w/ the red/white cap (+IF+ it IS Oxycodone?).. and the final Capsule (if I determine what it is) this Friday.

I would appreciate ANY assisatance in identifying this red/white (oxycodone?) in my quest to be drug free by mid week next week.

The new puppy (I mentioned her earlier) has been immense boundless joy and 'twixt that, and the hot baths, I hope to conquesr this final demonic week w/ your help in identifying these 2 capsules.

I found them in the med cabinet when looking for Benzos and did indeed locate eight .5 Xanax which I hope to use in an emergency, along w/ the Thomas Recipe.

Compliments to all in this hellacious battle and apologies for butting in. Rode WC ~

Is anger a prob. that accompanied w/d. Even when right (or seemingly so) I am unable to say OKAY, SORRY.. sigh.. does it EVER end? The anger~~?

by Chezz2, Mar 26, 2003 12:00AM
Rodewc,

Sounds to me like you have found some tylox, which indeed is oxycodone and tylenol. I am not sure one that. Just a GUESS. Especially if you are getting relief from withdrawals from them, and possibly a :lift or buzz:
As to the anger/emotional issue. Your brain is going through a detox/shock as well, so it will take time for it to going back to funcionting normally. With the correct out puts of seratonin as well as many other nuero chemicals to stabilize yourself back to normal.
It will take a bit. But there is an end or at least, everyday you will continue to get better. In other words, HEALING. Healiing time depends on the person, type of opiate abused, duration of intake, ect. ect. So it just take a little time, that is all.
Bear with it. You are already out the backdoor, so to speak.

The part now is to just stick with it and "feel" yourself throug this period by trying to keep positive and looking at all of the good things that came about, by you stopping the rollercoaster of opiate abuse.

Good luck and keep posting,
Chezz

Yes, i believe chezz is correct. It sounds like you have stumbled upon tylox. They are oxycodone. Good luck on the rest of your detox.

Be safe

You can call your local posion control number for a pill ID.  I do this from a pay phone, give fake info, and say that you found a pill in your daughters jeans when you were doing laundry and you would like to know what it is before you kill her.  They will get the info and tell you within a few monments what it is.  Good luck!  Nice job with the taper it takes some self displine but worth it when you feel better about yourself.  Pammy

A g\dang Pill bottle cap!! And... whatz scattered all over, around, and under the bed?? Maybe 80 Vikes? Good Lord!! How could I not know I had those.. I am sleeping on this dilemma, literally and figuartively.

Rodewc,

Good puppy, good puppy!!! Now all you have to do is a little more training and you will have a gem of a pup. Bring her over to your neighbors houses and a huntin' she will go. All you have to do is teach her to bring em' to ya, and you are SET!!!

Just kiddin', that was pretty funny though.

Yes, she (the 11 wk. ole pup) looks to be all lab (she certainly gnaws on everything in sight as one) 'cept her tail has a little curl like chihuahua. She has a lab stance, and those big brown black lab goo-goo eyes, and I could just eat her up.. esp knowing she has Hydrocodone in her system:) That aside, she seems to have woken up (from yesterday's ingestion) and is doing quite the soliloquy, make that doing quite the monologue, even as I type, keeping my mind off those pills I can't bear to take or bear to throw away. Today marks day one, minus the last pill that I swallowed @ 4 AM. That said, I am stroking my Xanax and watching the cat and dog show... takes one's mind off wars and dope(s)

I knew it!  I have a five year old black lab too!  Emma is her name and she is my best friend!  It seems like your puppy found you just in time!  Labs are so awesome!  They are very intutive, they just know!  The first year is fun but hard cause they require consisant attention to make a good dog.  Me and my husband would take Emma everywhere when she was a little dumpling like yours.  Mostly because if you left her home she would chew everything!  She out grew that quickly.  Try to get your labby to fetch believe it or not they will start that young.  Just don't play tug of war with and toy in thier mouths because I have been told by breeders that has an effect on a dogs retriveing skills!  Only a lab could find vikes!  Have a nice weekend with your new best friend!  Pammy

by Chezz2, Mar 28, 2003 12:00AM
Rodewc,

Well you know one thing for sure. If you have any visitors over your little sniffer will find em' if they have em'. Not to mention when you are out on walks. Wouldn't that be funny if your little "hydro hound" found some on unsuspecting people walking down the street, while out on a walk with you. Quite the entertainment.
Have fun with it. Cause one thing is for sure, you could train her now. Just by hiding a bottle with one in it to see if she finds it would be neat. Or even without any, just the smell of the bottle and the remnants of what was inside should be enough to trigger a response.
What a puppy..................

Yea, it was a hoot (the puppy) last nite.... but now I've actually counted those muthas, the Vikes ES, and there are 83 of them! Best I can tell that hound ate between 2 and 7.

Sigh.

I will be strong.

~~
PS That 11 wk old puppy, all lab-looking, except a chihuahua tail, is STILL asleep!! Snoring! I say she is having a sweet Vike dream organism:)

Hah!

Ut oh to the tugga war thing tho.. I will have to stop that.. She loves playing tug of war.. and sniffing out pills.. Good idea.. train her to rip off all the neighbor's narcs and thus help me remain an addict for life:)

Great:)

Yeah take my word for it with the tug of war thing.  Throw the toy instead and get her to retrive.  You will thank yourself later when all you have to do to exercise her is throw a frisbee!  Happy training!  Pammy

I think that if you go through a gradual detox, you will find you can deal with the anxiety.

How could you even suggest that?

Rodey would never give up her give up any one of her pets, least of all her new baby.

If people hate dogs, well, that is their right but to fail to respect another's free & legal choice to own one and then go further and bash it, is unpardonable.

Shame on you.

Dancing

P.S.  Awfully sorry I didn't finish my uber post last nt., let alone edit it.  I sat on the sofa for, well, all night! Oops!   Oh, well.  Finishing it was certainly not worth the effort!

Hello!!!

Some wise forum participant once told me:

""I think ignoring her is the best tack. I hate to use this analogy but it works & after my most unfortunate stalking incident was over, later, Gavin de Baeker backed it up in his bestseller, "The Gift of Fear."

I'll paraphrase.

When you are the recipient of unwanted attention, DO NOT ENGAGE. People who keep coming back no matter how much you reject them are not getting the message & will consequently settle for any attn., whether good or bad. One eg. I recall was when he said. If you ignore 29 of his his/her calls & finally call back on the 30th to yell, you have just taught the person that the cost of getting your attn/response is 30 phone calls.

That's always stuck with me. Of course we can bash her to kingdom come :-) but we shouldn't reply to any of her posts, whether to agree or disagree. ""

Do we have a problem "Houston" ???

Well said percs! Juudes, my unbelievably brilliant, loyal, friend whose advice and writings are a true treasure: you are the one (after me) who advised everyone to ignore the attention *****! I believe that description came from finkboy. But, anyhoo, my friend, we should "do as we say" especially on a forum full of people needing help and advice. As we are well aware of, the postings are limited now due to finances and we should really keep our anger at this  mere piece of rotting roadkill to ourselves - hard as it may be! Let the people who are striving for a better way to have the room to post instead of BSills and OUR responses to her BS! Agree?  Kat

Okay, okay, okay already!!!!!

So, it would appear I can dole it out but not heed my own very sage ;-) advice.

I just got *so* pissed I saw...keyboard keys.  What can I say?

I was initially right, then I was wrong & you 2 were right.  With those odds, I think I'll heed my own advice because something seems to be working.

Thanks you guys.

Hey Percs!  Another Canuck?  C'est bon, non?  I lived in the U.S. for almost 10 yrs. & still miss it terribly.  How very unpatriotic of me!  Whereabouts are you?  I'm in Vancouver.

Kat, the Burb Babe - How goes it?  Are you behaving yourself?  I sure hope not!  Howz work, etc.?  I'll drop by DA later & send everyone a cheery hello.

Ciao for now,
