anxiety from withdrawls

I am having the worst anxiety of my life today. I'm on day 4 of coming off vicodin/percocet's. I took about 4 a day at the mosty and didn't think the withdrawl would last this long. Is this terrible anxiety ever going to go away? please help.

thank you to everyone that is reaching out to help. i'm finding that waking up in the morning is the absolute hardest most anxiety ridden part of my day. i just get so nervous that i have to face another day and i'm scared i can't do it. i'm starting to get a little bit of energy back thank god but the anxiety is unbearable. i just need to be reassured that it will go away. thanks again all so much and congratulations to all of you who have stayed clean. i'm truly happy for you and hope I can accomplish what you all did.

Hi Sydney,

The anxiety will definitely go away in the next couple days.  Days 3and 4 are the worst and by day 6 you will be feeling much better.  I am on day ten and I'm experiencing almost no symptoms.

hey girlee...welcome to the forum...congrads on day 4 and yes the anxiety can be unbearable at times....it was and is my worst symptom day 4 is probably the worst
day for most...I came off methadone so it lingers around a bit longer then most narcotics but it does get better...im 35 fdays clean and for the most part it is alot better then the first week...I still deal with it but its more like regular anxiety rather then withdrawal anxiety witch is thew the roof...just hang in there...ya just got to be ok without being ok for a wile....I found that praying helped alot....god is there and willing to help those that seek him in there time of need...its the only thing you got...it dident take it away completely but it did seam to help...your doing great if your 4 days clean...you may not feel great yet but with time you will heal
take a hot bath...as hot as you can stand it...that helps alot...vlarian root also
helps..you just got to make it thew the next few days and you will notice that the severity of it will start to wane..it does get better but I know exactly how it feels and it sux"s ..you have come so far your almost there dont give up or give in to the pills
a few more days is worth the rest of your life...and yes it is so so worth it...
good luck and god bless ...Gnarly

Well you are on the worst day so don't give up. Yes the anxiety will go away. I had terrible anxiety; I think it is the percoset. So you are going to feel pretty bad for the next 10 days. Usually either the third or fourth day is the worst and you keep getting better from there.

The best thing I found was to just stay very close to this site. Just read every post and keep posting yourself. You can message people or send notes and you can read the health pages (see upper right hand corner). Look at the Thomas Recipe for suggestions.

You've made it to the hump; keep going you are almost there. Remember the anxiety is just your body crying out for the chemical it has grown attached to. I promise it is going to pass.

Thank you so much I'm just so scared and feel like i'm jumping out of my skin. My heart feels like it is pounding out of my chest. I'm so scared it's never going to go away. I feel like i'm ready to burst into tears at any second every second of the day.

Congrats on your 4 days! you are doing fantastic and yes, it will definately get better. Most people start to turn around the 4th or 5th day and in my experience it is a dramatic turn, like someone switched on the lights. So hang in there, your almost there!
