congrats on 3 weeks. i had the same exact problem, it takes a while for sleep to be normal i am 8 months clean and still have a few night like that but just keep pushing one night you will sleep. if it helps you out a bit what i did is about 3 hours before i go to bed i do some excersize(i hope i spelled it right i cant spell to save my life) then then i would at least get 4 hours, and to me 4 hour is better then none.
hope all goes well

Congrats to you!  I am on my first week hydro free and I can't sleep either.  Geez, I hope I'm not going to be sleepless for the next month!!  It is getting a little better, at least the restless leg doesn't go on for hours and hours, now it only lasts about 1/2 hour to an hour, then I finallly go to sleep, just can't stay asleep, keep waking up.  But I'll take that over that horrible tossing and turning with the restless legs, that's the worst!!!  So are you feeling better emotionally?  I find I am having periods where I actually feel happiness and joy for no apparent reason, feels way better than when I was using!!! Makes me want to kick myself for doing this to my body.  Anyway, I'm sure we'll get to sleep sometime, just use the awake time to get some things done around the house - lol - clean your kitchen or something ;)   Good luck to you!!!

WOW, congrats on the 3 week milestone.  That is fantastic!!!!   I'm trying to make friends with my insomnia by getting up and doing some quiet reading and meditation.  Today is day 7 clean for me and I have been awake since about 2.  I forced myself to stay in bed until 3:30 and then I just couldn't take it any more.  I took a benedryl last night and got about 4 good hours of sleep.  I started taking 5-HTP a few days ago and that has helped a lot with the anxiety and depression.  It is suppose to help with the insomnia too, but I have noticed that yet.  I figure I tweaked my body and brain out for so long doing opiates that it will take equally long, (or worse, longer) for my body to heal.  I am doing all the amino acids recommended in the Thomas Diet and am taking mass doses of a liquid full spectrum vitamin and mineral supplement.  I feel much better than I did the first 5 days, but the brain fog is pretty intense and I know it is compounded by the sleep deprivation.  scaredmommie is right, excercise for at least 20 mins. before bed seems to help too.  Best of luck to you.  Keep up the good fight.

dont worry sleep will come back. i am on day 86 and if i finally slept, so will you. try to learn from me. i was having bad RLS in my left arm and i kept over analyzing my lack of sleep. it took weeks for me to finally have a calm enough mind for resting as i had sleep problems to begin with. at some point, when i realized i wasnt going to die from not sleeping, i started to not worry about it as much. i would try to sleep for a few hours and if i felt the RLS coming, i would just get up and watch tv or go for a walk or play guitar. this helped because i didnt feel as dead tired as i did from laying in bed for 8, 10, 12 hours tossing. dont get me wrong, i slept a little. but it took a while before sleep felt RESTFULL. what im trying to say is that i am probably the worst case scenario in terms of recovery and lack of sleep. as you can see, i made it almost 90 days now so hang in there. if you really want to be free from the evil opiate, it will get better.
