no matter what you do, my biggest peice of advice is DO NOT ever get on a methadone maintenance program. methadone clinics make massive prophets, and will keep you on it for as long as possible in order to keep making money from you. the biggest way they get you to stay is through rediculously potent dose levels- clinics start 10-year heroin addicts and painkiller addicts at the same dose. this introduces the majority of new patients to a greater high than before- instead of being stabilized. their dose is increased constantly for weeks, months, building onto theyre already increased dependancy. that it is extremely deceiving- generally, patients are on it for atleast 6 months, most for several years, even LIFE! not one person on earth needs to be on a narcotic for the rest of their lives to control their "disease." thats an easy answer that takes away the fault in peoples actions. and people grasp onto it - thus furthering the success of methadone clinics. and people will pay dearly- a dose of methadone costs one dollar. where i go, the patient pays $14 per day. thats a 1,400% profit per dose.
ive been on it for 6 months, and have been trying to find a way out since the first week. tapering off is an option, but i am not about to spend the next decade decreasing by 5 milligrams every 2 weeks- thats RETARDED. why would one taper off so gradually?? the ONLY reason is so that clinics can continue making money off of you for as long as possible. tapering honestly does not have to be THAT gradual. thats like driving a car 10mph and taking 5 miles to stop.
I just want to be clean from the hydro and not be hooked on anything. I dont have the willpower to taper, if I have pills, I take them ALL. I empathize with you and the methadone situation. I dont know what my friend is gonna do. I have talked to her about it several times and she thinks that she will be on it forever. she says she has no plans to quit anytime soon...she drives an hr round trip to go "dose" everyday. and then takes any extras that she can find off the street.
again, thanks for your advice and if anyone has any info regarding SHORT TERM methadone use to come off hydro, please reply here.
good night:)
What's your methadone history? How many times/how long have you taken it?
Keep in mind methadone is just another opiate, albeit a much more addictive one. So generally, you can't use it to get off another opiate. You face the same withdrawals in the long run. The only thing it's good for is giving you the time to get your life back together.
