back to square one

hi, guys i'm back on this site seeking for your guys help and perspective on things. For those who have seen my earlier posts, I've been battling depression, and it's seems as though that I'm far better mentally. However, I've slipped back into bad rituals and habits. I stopped doing harder drugs like coke or xanax, but only smoke weed. But because i don't chase greater highs, i'm constantly high instead. i'm virtually never sober, even when i want to be, it's seems as though events and life are THAT much better in an altered state. well that's all i have to say, thanks for the insight to those who respond!

Hi, Chris, welcome! My name is Margaret, and I am pleased to meet you. Lots of new friends are here to help you in any way that we can. What kind of help do you need, and what is your particular question/s? Are you only doing weed right now, not alcohol or anything else? I'm not trying to be nosy--but the more information you can give us, the better advice we can give to you. You may want to start writing in a journal your thoughts and insights about yourself. I'd start with what led you to start in the first place, why you stopped the harder drugs, and perhaps one of the most important questions of all: why are you "virtually never sober"? Why is your life better in an altered state? Drug taking is almost always a symptom, not an illness--you need to find out why you think that way. What is bad or sad in your psyche that you want to do this? I'll try to write more after I get up tomorrow--more friends will be on the way tonight and tomorrow to talk to you, so stick around and hang out with us. Again, glad to meet you!

HEY Dude life can be lived on lifes terms what you did was become cross addicted now you stuck on weed its not that uncommon for this to happen
you need to check into a program so you can learn to live drug free I lived on weed for years I was an everyday user so I know the grip it can have but frim a sober perspective it no way to go threw lidfe just a waist of money and a gross lack of motivation why dont you give N/A a chance it may help you see the light the only prerequisite is the willingness to quit I can asure you of one thing opiates will call your name sooner or later the weed is only going to do it so long weed will lead back to your DOC it always does trust me been on this boad over 2 yrs have seen a thing or 2 break the chains addiction has on you wile there still farliy ez to break getting off weed was tuff for me I really liked it but I new it was no good for me its been 6yr7mo since I smoked anny give NA a chance good luck and God bless.......Gnarly

thank you guys for your responses.
Well as a stressed college kid, i feel like the only way to de-stress is to light up a little. but after a while it became more than just a de-stress, and now its just an everyday-every hour type of thing. And yes I do dabble with alcohol occasionally, but nothing like before. I would usually go black out drunk everytime I drank and nothing below. Now, I can't even stand the smell of it, and I just stick to my weed. with stress and all this work, i don't see myself coming off with a sane state of mind. simply because i self medicate myself, i feel like i need something in my system at all times.

and believe me I understand, weed is not a most harmful of drugs nor will it kill me. I just really want to rid myself of this habit before I go back to harder drugs
