ADDICTION: SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMUNITY
back to the real world-scared

back to the real world-scared

I have missed almost a solid month of classes due to addiction and detox and am getting ready to go to an afternoon class that is very small and I am scared!  I know I shouldn't care what ppl think but I would wonder if someone disappeared for a while!  I wrote an email to my profs and said that I have been suffering from severe depression and anxiety as well as a substance abuse prob but that I have detoxed and am ready to return to classes.  It is just a really hard thing to tell someone, ya know?  I'm not ashamed b/c I know it can happen to anyone and that nobody is better than the next person addict or not but I know how judgemental some people are.  Ugh, this feels like torture on day 5!

The worst part if the anticipation of going! I felt really nervous the first day I went back to work after w/d but once I got there, I was fine!  You are gonna be fine too!  Most people in this world have issues so noone has any right or reason to judge you! Good Luck and let us know how it goes!
Keep your head high!
