bakers act

I live in IL and have a 27yr. old daughter with 3 children who is addicted to drugs.  I am told she is on Crack.  She has lost a lot of weight, she shakes all the time, her hair looks like a bale of straw, she doesn't pay any of her bills and she is a constant liar.  Is there a Bakers Act in IL?  If so, what do I need to do?

unfortunatly there are no grandparents rights in the state of illinois. i live here as well. but ya can contact dcfs if she is neglecting the kids at all or endangering them. have ya tried to talk to your daughter about this problem? how old are the kids? are they old enough to talk to dcfs with ya, or are they too little?
I feel for ya, i am a long term cocaine addict, smoking it is actually my "specialty", so i know how hard it is to quit. seems the ones we hurt are alwayz those closest to us!  and the only innocent ones are the kids, so they deserve a life without addiction in it. please keep postin, i may be able to help on this one...

I'm sure there is something like that in every state but may have another name for it. In the state of Florida it only holds people for 3 days. Sounds like your daughter needs long term help. It's a good thing she has you and you are aware there is a problem.
Sorry I couldn't give you much help. Keep us posted.

I would call social services., or maybe go get the kids first..so they don't go to a foster home...I'm not really sure how to go about it....bu this should bump it up to the top and otheers will respond....maybe tell her you wan tthe kids for awhile ...would she be willing to do that...then take steps after you have them...not sure..?!? .

Yes, she is married to a guy who is as guilty as she is and he will tell you he doesn't care.  And yes, I would take those babies in a heartbeat.

Welcome to the forum...there is a lot of suppport and help here...I don't have the answer to your question.
Are you willing to take the kids for a while and get your daughter into rehab? Does she have a husband or s.o. who can help out?
The forum seems kinda slow right now...but others should be along soon!

Good luck...keep posting!

In IL DCFS say they cannot investigate drugs unless something legal happens and I have called many agencies seeking advice and getting nowhere.  Thanks for your comment and I am also praying for you and your family.  Sue
