Hey, I'm up early and your not.  Here's what I've been thinking (and thank you by the way our im kept my mind occupied all day.  I got a ton of **** done.  My thread is now a rope.  So, I send you a sincere thank you for being there.  I can't wait to get more.).  Anyway, you said spirituality plays not part in addiction and its causes.  
We discussed what makes an addict? genetics, -pretty good bet based on your impromtu handraising thingy, environment -maybe a contender when I recounted just a smidge of the abuse I suffered and so many of the people on here have.  And I suggested spirit, simply because, well I think you should consider it.  
In 12 steps it says recognizing a greater power that can give strength and sanity.  
This thinking, environs, the body, the spirit ,follows the path of healing in A Course in Miracles.  You may have heard of it.  Some have critized it and called it the 13th step and others have replaced it with their bibles.  Regardless, I think you need to consider the spirit because man when you are inspired, which translates to in the spirit, with God.  There is no better drug around.  ACIM also suggest that when you can rise above the first 2 you will then be on the path to healing.

I would suggest that our lack of connection with a higher spirit leads us to a lonely, scarry place.  It is in the is place that the first stupid decision -to take the drug - is made.
As always I appreicate your post, the poem should be a forum classic soon.

Hey here is something I forgot to add up top.  When I did the birth chart for my middle son.  Drug addiction came up in his chart as a stuggle issue whatever.  Of course we all have choices and the chart by no means is set in stone but I thought it was worth mentioning.
