beat opiate withdrawls

just wanted to thank everyone on this forum. i spent 7 days of pure hell coming of opiates percs, oxy's, etc,,all prescribed by my doctor for severe pain in my stomach. After doing research, I found out I may have been suffering Narcotic Bowel Sydrome. The doctors have no idea what this,,well none that I came across they would rather push pills to have you go away and send you to a GI specialist that will find nothing. Instead of letting my doctor tell me what he was going to do for pain, I came into appointment ready with case loads of people on ridiculous amounts of pain meds for stomach pain. One case I came across a lady was on 60mg 6 times a day of morphine, plus to injections of 15mg of morphine plus 40mg 4times a day of oxycotin. She had her appendix removed, gal bladder, hystorectomy, several exploritory surgerys. After seeing a new doctor in ER he had determined that the pain subsided with increasing dosages and decreasing. Her new regiment that was prescribed..........Clonindine 3 times a day 0.1mg...Three days later she walked out of ER and a year later pain free no loose bowel movements. My personal opinion to beat opiates is Neurotonin and Clonindine. I am on day 7 and for the first time I don't feel like a truck hit me.
I did not taper off as was told to. Just went on the two drugs, about day 5. I was ready to pack it in. I just kept counting days and knowing the farther I got along the less time I would feel sick. Today I can see the sun shine. My bowels are functioning normally for the first time in 4 years and I am pain free. I maybe jumping the gun? I truly believe that these two drugs can be your greatest weapon fighting opiate withdrawl. Neurotonin Clonindine.
Thanks.

Congrats! I agree about the neurontin. I was prescribed neurtontin for nerve pain and researched it. I read that it is used in some rehab facilities for withdrawal. I also had clonodine but didn't take it. The neurontin was enough to help me make it through. It is def. a drug that they need to look at more for withdrawal. It has so many off label uses. I didn't have rls once. I was even able to sleep and didn't have any of the twitchy muscles. Just be sure if anyone is thinking about trying it to talk it over with your doctor. I feel it was my miracle drug during withdrawals.

Hey!  Congrats!!  Welcome back to Sunshine!!!  Nothing like a loose stool to ruin a good day.:-))~~~glad everything is coming out okay!!....

Okay, seriously....I totally agree with the Neurontin.  It does take away a lot of withdrawal symptoms.  Many swear by it!   I noticed when I first tried it that I had less desire for the opiates while on it.  I stopped taking it for years and am back on it again.  I never a lot of cravings, but since I have been on it......NO CRAVINGS at all.  its not for everyone because it can cause some mental instability if you are not on the correct dose.  It takes patience and a lot of trial and error to find the right dose...at least for me.  I finally found the correct dose and do well on it.

Again, Congrats on getting thru hell !!!

Luv,
Nauty..........
