been MIA & in severe pain

by troubleinohio, Apr 02, 2008 01:29PM
i havent been around n about 2 days here and not doing too well. my back has been killing me for at least 2 days now. ive been dreading this for a long time now...my first real severe back attack since going off the pills (which ironically i think i hit my 90 days clean mark yesterday). i havent taken any narcs for this pain but thats probably only because i have nothing here TO take or else i may have crumbled. the pain is bad. i havent gotten squat done around the house and just been pretty much laying on the heating pad  and reading a book. of course i have to get up to cook for the kids and change ,my youngests diaper etc but Im only doing the necessaries, so the house looks like a bomb went off in here with toys everywhere, dishes are piling up and laundry is not done. i hate this so much. Ive been eating ibuprofen's like candy here and afraid my stomach's gonna bleed to death ive taken so many trying to squelch the pain. I sure hpoe it lets up soon, not sure how much more of this i can take, or if it gets worse not knowing what i would do.  well thats my update.

So sorry to hear that you're in pain. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Sounds like what your doing now is the right thing.  Who cares about the house right now.  Just do the necessities and stay on the heating pad and take your Motrin.  It will pass soon.  I promise.

I feel your pain and wish I could offer a good solution, short of a couple shots of bourbon. When my Dr would lecture me about the dangers of vicodin, he would always say that wiskey would work just as well, but then I would become an alcoholic. THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSMENT FOR DRINKING. (I had to throw in a disclaimer for those that might get riled up over this comment) If I new a good joke that could be posted in an open forum it might help you forget about the pain for a few minutes. I hope you feel better soon.

Trouble:
I really hope you get better soon. It sucks to be in pain. I think you need to do just what you are now. The thing about housework is that it always still seems to be there when we get better...LOL.....I wish that wasn't the case, but......anyway, really do hope the pain lets up for you soon.

Big hugs,

Confused

I always thought that heat gave me a lot of relief for my back.

Well, I accidentally bought a cooling menthol rub.  Thought it was heat.

The cooling actually works better for me.  Just thought I'd share.

Ice is a deep heat...not as comfy as the heat but can be more effective as it reduces the swelling...I sleep on a hot rice bag on my shoulders every night for the relaxation...but ehen I am really hurting i use ice...20 minutes on and 20 minutes off...you can throw some heat in during the day as well...sometimes heat can actually make the pain worse.....also, have you tried chiropractic?  after my runs thru all the docs and surgery, etc..chiropractic is what saved my lfe...

hey Worried-- when i read your post about the hot rice bag on the shoulder, i also thought you said you can throw in some MEAT in it (you said Heat) and i was like huh??? MMM rice and Meat!!  now youre' making me hungry LOL

to all- thanks-- Im back up off the couch again for awhile, I just couldnt lay on that damn couch any longer without going insane!! So I'll sit on my asss here for as long as i can tolerate it so I might be posting a few posts lol
