boyfreind using demoral

my boyfreind uses demoral for his backpain.However he tells me he has to try and detox for a couple of days and that Ishouldnt be around him when he is detoxing as coming off this medication makes him really irritable. Is this true? and how bad can this kind of usage get?

Demerol is a VERY strong opiate. He will more than likely need some sort of inpatient detox or possibly suboxone therapy. Is suboxone a option? Rehab? Just out of curiosity..how is he taking the demerol? Shooting it? Pills?
