Does anyone know if butalbital (fioricet) builds up in your system? It seems if I take it over a couple days for a migraine that even when I do the rx dose it affects me more on the 2nd or 3rd day. Just wondering what others have found.

I was taking more than 6 Fioricet's a day and adding Vicodin... not good...Fioricets are much easier that opiates in one sense as they are not as physical addicting or intense, but the more subtle nature of the addiction to them is real. If you can give yourself 3 days off from Fioricet or maybe 4 you will find energy you forgot you had.. Now You probably need to work this out with a Doc because its not wise to stop abruptly. The problem is obvious what about headaches? tough one right? sometimes after stopping, Just tylenol will work  but you have to be willing. good luck , I know where you are...

I am currently taking 6 fioricet every day. My trigger for migraines is stress, and believe me, my life is filled with it. Taking my fioricet is much cheaper than buying illegal street opiates. Which is currently what im trying to kick right now as it's $15 a pop and I have children I need to think about rather than opiates. I want to be normal again...

Hi-  There are much better meds for migraine than Fioricet. It can actually cause a migraine!

Yes,it does build up in your bloodstream to a point. It has a fairly long half life. But,I'm not sure I understand what you're saying...2nd and 3rd day?  Do you take this everyday? Do you have a migraine everyday?  How mush do you take at one time? In a day?

I would say that is unusual to feel a drug more the 2nd or 3rd day
do u have any health problems?  Perhaps talk to ur doctor about it if it continues to be a problem...no medical doctors on the forum
