candle addiction

My daughter is 40 years old and has an affinity for stockpiling large quantities of a variety of candles..she does not
give them to friends, just piles them up in the original store sacks and piles them in her closet, corners, under her bed
very large quantities..what can be done to help her understand that this is a big expense and not normal.  I imagine she probably has approximately  5000 candles abeing hoarded in privacy in her room.  what type of psychological
affinity does she have to want to acquire abnormally large quantities of an item..she does love to burn candles throughout her home, but still cannot pass up any sale of candles.

Although i can appreciate your concern and i wish you the best this seems like more of a phych problem than a substance abuse problem....have you suggested she see a counselor....I would think they could help her with this problem if she wants help....I am not trying to minimize your concern but it seems to me if she is unwilling to see this as a problem she is unlikely to change..

I agree with Jambo62 This sounds more like a personality disorder than Sub. Abuse. Hording is a real problem and a doctor might help her if she is willing.There is something about buying those candles that releaves stress. good luck
