clonidine and flexeril during taper

clonidine and flexeril during taper

hello, i've posted here a few times trying to taper from 70-90mg oxy/hydro addiction.  been through all this with heroin a few times in the past.  was clean for a year then now been on hydro (20-30mgs, for about 2 1/2 years) then oxy hydro up and down from 30-100 stabling now at around 70-90mgs for the last month or so.  i have no insurance and am under threat of divorce if i am found out.  i have clonidine and flexeril left over from my heroin detox in the past.  no doctor, no insurance, methadone clinic to far away.  just wondering if i can do a quick taper with about 200mgs of oxy and hydro (about 100mgs each) while taking clonidine then after i run out just continue taking the clonidine and flexeril for about 5 days or so.  the clondine makes me horribly tired but i need to do this and still be able to take care of business around the house.  i am in a very shaky position with my family right now.  my son is on drugs and threatening to kill me all the time and my wife doesn't seem to care i just need to quit.  i am at a loss.  i knew what i was doing and what was going to happen i hate myself for it just can't seem to quit.  i rarely get high from the pills just so much i need to do, and believe me i don't get a break around here.  it is one thing after another.  any help appreciated thank you all

Hi and welcome back.

You can do the taper with the flexiril and the clonidine, but tapering is difficult to do alone. We are addicts and the temptation is always there. You are going to need a good taper schedule and you are going to have to be determined and persistant if you do this on your own.

If you need a schedule, just ask. A lot of people here can help you with that.

thanks for your quick response.  i'm going to start by just taking 40mgs today (20hydro-20 oxy) or less if i can stand it.  then go 35, 30, 25, 20, 10 and quit in 6 days.  i know it's gonna be rough but i have no choice.  i am going to be drinking more than normal which seems to help.  have a friend who is going to try to help me.  thanks again.

I have 11 years clean and sober. I have recently had spinal surgery (Chiari Malformation Type I and Occult Tethered Cord Syndrome). I am currently tapering off of Flexeril and Tramadol. I know that narcotics and some non- narcotics are sometimes essential for the relief of pain following surgery. I also know that w/d from many drugs can be very difficult for some people. As a recovering addict I was very upset that the doctors in my area kept prescribing drugs to cover the symptoms of the diagnosis above. The doctors didn't think anything was wrong. They thought it was all in my head.
I was prescribed Ambien CR 12.5 for sleep (after trying many other sleep aids) and Ativan to stop the tremors my body was having. After I went to see another Neurologist, he prescribed 30 MG Cymbalta for 2 weeks and 60 MG for another 2 weeks. I was really upset at this as I let them know that I am in recovery.
A friend told me to get off these meds now!! I found a website at www.theroadback.org that assisted me in creating a taper schedule with the use of this program. This program is used all over Europe and now is in America.
Take a look at it. It kept me away from w/d side effects. I am also using it for the Tramadol/Flexiril drugs as well. Good luck.
