clonidine

clonidine

How well does this work for withdrawls from oxycontin? I am going to the dr. on Monday to start the Suboxone.  I was having really bad panic attacks last week & the dr. at urgent care prescribed me Clonidine 0.1mg for them. Even though he knew I was on the oxys.  So I'm wondering if I would feel okay if I tried to quit taking the oxys & just take the Clonodine.  And if I did this would I be able to start the Suboxone right away or would I have to stop the clonodine too?

The clonodine works by lowering your blood pressure and heart rate.  If you are planning to see the Suboxone doctor on Monday you should stop taking oxy on Sunday and you'll be in mild withdrawal and able to start the suboxone right away.  The clonodine won't matter with Suboxone so go ahead and take it on sunday to  ease your withdrawal symptoms.  Good luck.

clonidine is AMAZING.  you have virtually no w/d's.  you will have fatigue and dry mouth but that's pretty much it.  between that and multi-vitamins and amino's, i faired pretty good on it...

Most are prescribed .1 mg 3x/day, and that's enough.  You should not exceed what the doctor prescribes as you could lower your BP to the point you pass out.
Dry mouth is a problem...buy a bunch of hard candies to have around.  Drowsiness is also a problem but you eventually overcome that.

I felt better within a couple of hours of taking my first one on my first full day of withdrawal and was able to go to work the next day..it made things so much easier.

FYI - I took 1/2 a pill 3x a day, which seemed to do the trick.  Most take the full pill, but maybe because I'm a woman (of normal height/weight) it was enough - ?  I don't know, but that personally was enough for me..

Good luck to you...

I came off hydrocodone after being on Vicoden for a work injury and it really helped. Don't know if I could have done without it!
