The detox time and sevrity will depend on how much you have been taking each day and for how long. Codeine is one of the weaker opiates, but will still have a withdrawal after 2 years. My advice is to taper down like Paulking said, so keep taking less and less until you are down to nothing, then stop over a weekend. At that point, the acute withdrawal should only last a few days. You may be a little anxious , tired, and cranky when you go back to work, but just keep busy and peat and drink right and you will be fine. Best of luck to.you.
Hey there I am trying to do the same and find I am same dilemma as my work is keeping me from not getting off them. I take pills for my stomach diarrhea, and then like suggested I try to stop when not working but I feel like its so hard, I don't think I can taper down cause I just take more!!! Any how have to keep giving it a go. I am an ex heroin user years ago I stopped but I remember doing a rapid detox and that nearly killed me so you can do it people do this every day Good Luck
How much have you been taking a day?
If you have only just found your job, then it's going to be hard to take time off to go through the withdrawals. The only thing you can do is to try and minimise them, but they can't be avoided alltogether. Reducing the codeine gradually should help. Try and time it so that you can stop taking it altogether over the weekend or when your not at work. Eat healthily, take vitamins, drink plenty of water and try to sleep if you can.
