codeine vs. vicodin withdrawals

Hi Everyone,
Just wondering...for those of you out there who have taken codeine AND vicodin, which did you have WORSE withdrawals from?? Just wondering, cuz I was mainly addicted to codeine, and the withdrawals from that were way worse than when I withdrew from vicodin at other times in my life, even though I was taking just as many vicodin pills as i was codeine ( at separate times...example, maybe taking vicodin for six months, then withdrawal, then codeine for six months, then withdrawal...) do you all get what I am saying? Anyways, just curious!!

I withdrew from codeine about 6 mos ago and it was pure hell! I had really bad stomach problems- vomiting, diarrhea, etc...

I withdrew from vics many times in the last few months and I have never felt the way I felt with the codiene and I have been taking a higher amt of the vics.

hope this helps!

Hiya, I am on day 9 codeine cold turkey.....first time trying to detox off them in 14 years   last 4 years very heaver user for fibromyalgic pain.....ok day 9 is better than yesterday and tommorrow will be better again BUT i hear its worse than heroin in some ways which takes 3 days because codeine stays in your system much longer. I was on 300 mgs daily AND 40 mgs Oxycontin plus serapax and valium and a little alcohol to beef up the high .......a cocktail......Its been very painful all the usual withdrawal symptoms but being able to poop unaided has been a positive :) diarrhea or not! well one must try to see the light side eh!   It has been worth it....I tryed tapering off slowly last year on deloxine which is a derivative of methadone and basically it was just drug replacement one for the other so I went back to codeine because thats my drug of choice (was) The aches are starting to subside now but still aware of them...I'm attempting to rescript my relationship top pain by accepting there will be times when I am in pain and thats ok it will pass......(ok its early days but thats the plan!) The worse symptom for me is the jelly legs arms and hands.....weak and yukky sensation stops me sleeping can;t keep still......just went for a mild swim that was helpful  my advice is to keep busy and distracted....don't lie in bed all day if you can help it.....anything to take your mind off it....films, music friends, reading walks (hard for first 4 days) and I highly recommend NA   I have been going for 2 years without trying to get clean and finally I got it....I am an addict, and I will not use just for today.....I feel supported from the crackheads to the Heroin addicts to the ice/speed freaks and ex jail birds they are a wierd and wonderful lot and I am the straight woman who happened inadvertantly become an addict....it really doesn't mater how or how much or why.....an addict is an addict is an addict.....anyway  that's my experiance   mandy

I agree...right now I am on Day 10 of codeine withdrawl.  As I remember...back in the Vicodin days many years ago...it was far easier and quicker to get off them.
