thanks for the tips yes i am only on day 3 thought i would try doing it slowly as the last time i tried cold turkey and i thought i was going to die i do have flue like symptoms and i feel dizzy but i am itching badly i have taken an antihistamine but not doing much to help it not sure if this is withdrawl from codeine or side affects from venlafaxine
Hi welcome to the forum :)
Are you still taking the codeine or you have already stopped it ? ok, you can expect flu like symptoms for some 7/10 days ...once the physical wds are gone, there are some mental ones like anxiety, some depression and lack of energy, problems with sleep that linger longer but it is doable...:) don't get discouraged, pls... there are some natural suplemments that can help you here ...you could read at the health pages the thomas recipe and the amino acid protocol ( on the right side of your screen ).. your dose is not high and if you have no other medical condition apart from the arthritis, you will soon find yourself better... Soon after detoxing from the codiene, you may feel what is called rebound pain, those people taking opiates for the pain, experience it but it is just for some days... afterwards, they even feel sometimes better from the pain...
i would advice you to drink a lot of fluids to keep you hydrated ( green tea, apple/orange juice, gatorades ) . This is very important....
Get some immodium for diarrhea, advil in case of pain and headches .... a magnessium+calcium and potasium suplemments will help you with muscles cramps and RLS ... Lots of hot baths
you should ask your doctor to help you here too ...
and stay here posting and telling us how you are doing or if you have any questions, ok ? Good luck, mollymandy :)
