comming off methodone

i have been clean but on methodone for 8 months now although i wasnt a big user  of the drug b4 i just used to smoke it in a spliff..for a year while in a bad relationship-now i am rebuilding my life but its so hard, i am a different person-violent aggresive and always tearful-it was the worse road ive ever gone down and am suffering severly but i need to desperatly come off this methodone now its rulling my life-im on 25mils now i jus dont know how im gonna ever be without it. how can i ever come off it? and how am i ever gonna come from 25m to none?/ thank you!!

I feel for your situation and have also been there. I think you have seen that it can be done, like some people here have said. I also was a long time methadone/ poly opiate addict and got off methadone 7 years ago and am off all narcotics as well. I have a blog site that should be up in a few day that is for support and encouragment for methadone addicts. all the best

thats a real accomplishment i am on 120mg day sometimes more tried 2 quit c/T BUT COULDNT TAKE IT i tried 2 substitute w/ suboxen but made me REAL sick any advice

thank you for your advice but whereas i wrk everyday long hours continuosly chasing my dam key worker to get me medi-its hard to try to kick it-i need a holiday to detox and i know ill suffer but if im alone no one will suffer with me-how can i do this i feel so **** 2day-and sick and tired of being sick and tired-i haved tto go the whole day with no medi i was debating on the way to wrk if to drive in2 the wall and end up in hospital coz i desperatly need some help and support its so hard doing this on my own but i was in me dads car so that wasnt fair...lol no really is there anything i can do or take 2 come off this C0Z IM AT WITS END

I was on methadone for over 5 years at 90mg. I tried to detox twice with the last being successful. The first time I tried to do it too fast and it was just too hard. You are lucky that you didn't go up any higher. Good for you. Please just take your time and don't rush it. The second time I detoxed from 30mg, dropping 1mg a day down to 20mg, then 1mg every 3 days down to 10mg, then 1mg a week until I stopped at 4mg. Withdrawls were still bad but I can only imagine stopping c/t at a much higher dose. You will be fine. Best of luck and keep posting.

hi there gina. I to have been on methadone. I wound up going off of it by 2 ml a day. until I was done. but also, I have a few friends that are taking saboxone to get off of it. I wish you luck. methadone is so hard to kick. its good to get help getting offf of it. goodluck my friend..

I came off of methadone at 10mg.  That was 18 days ago, and i can tell you though it was a bit tough, it was the best thing I ever done for myself.  The detox took me about 15 days, with day 7-12 the worst, after 12, it has been less and less to at 18, i don't feel much of any residuals.

I hope that helps, and I wish you the best with your decision.  If you think you should do it, then do it.  You won't regret it, I feel many times better than I sis when I was on it.
