this is just some of what i get when researching bupe-

Because of its ceiling effect and poor bioavailability, buprenorphine is safer in overdose than opioid full agonists. The maximal effects of buprenorphine appear to occur in the 16–32 mg dose range for sublingual tablets. Higher doses are unlikely to produce greater effects.

"The ceiling effect is good in some ways. It makes Suboxone less likely abused and far less easy to O.D. on – and because of this, Suboxone can usually be taken home, saving the client from regular or even daily trips to the methadone clinic.

The ceiling effect of Suboxone holds true for all effects – that is, after a certain point, taking more of the medication won’t increase any of the effects of the drug. Taking a higher dosage of Suboxone won't result in much intoxication, but it also won’t cause much risk of respiratory depression and possible overdose death.

After the Suboxone ceiling of effect has been reached – taking more Suboxone has no effect – it won't make you higher, and it also won't keep slowing your breathing like heroin or other opiates would."

but i am hearing more from junkie freinds about this drug , as it is starting to be on the black market more.Mostly as a hold over drug, til they can get H or OXY. they dose between 4-8 mg. every 12 to fifteen hrs. and feel good.
So I dont think what you are saying is untrue , and bupe can be a Very dangerous drug (especially if one is not opiate tolerant) but i would like to know more about why they dose it the way they due if true ceiling effect is 4mg.

yes, the subs help the wds ALOT!   They work well and really, really do have a ceiling effect of 4mg - didn't believe it until I tried it for  myself.  I have tried to kick a 5 yr. vicodin/norco habit without them and I can tell you the difference is huge.  The subs work, the difference is huge. Use them wisely and ask your doc if you can use Ibuprofen if you get a slight headache or back ache. Try to have a few projects lined up if you get frustrated, if you do it will  likely be minimal anyways and it may sound corny, be relaxing in a warm bath and just reassuring yourself you can do this helps! Best of luck

First of all let me say that I meant to check yours as best answer & being new here checked wrong. Sorry. You seem to know a lot about Subs. Have you taken any? I am really trying to stay at 12-14 although the doctor prescribed 16(8 2x a day). I guess I'm so used to taking more to get high that I can't seem to apply that theory. I am going to start to try to stay at 14 with the help of some very nice people I met at a forum. I will be here & there seeking help & support. Thank you so much for your answers. Love & Hope, Abuelabx

alrighty i will help ya with that question
the reason they do dose like they do for instance say take 8mg every 12 hours is because of the length of time the one dose will last in other words once the 4mg that is working now wears off you still have the other in your system to i guess you could say replace it if that makes sense because the half life of bupe is ALOT longer than the half life of a full opiate like hydrocodone or oxycodone or even the big H it will stay in your system a lot longer which means it will last a lot longer i have even heard ppl say that they can take an 8mg dose of suboxone and it will last a whole 48 hours and that is because of the half life of the drug

im not trying to start an argument by any means but the ceiling effect is at 4mg not 32
32 mg is the max dose to be taken in a day after 4mg it doesnt matter how much you take it will do nothing but taking 32 mg of suboxone at one time is VERY VERY dangerous that is why it is the max dose in a day and if someone took 32 mg at one time because they thought it would work better because they were taking that much it would be very dangerous and would help no more than 4mg

it is true that more does nothing because at 4mg the bupe(thats the opiate in suboxone) is at is max and will do no more because at 4mg it covers 97-98% of the opiate receptors in your brain now the reason that you way you weaken and take more is part of your addiction that you are going to have to conquer because you are taking more because you are used to taking a pill every so often and you are still doing that even with a different drug and i completely understand where you are coming from because for the first week or so that i was on sub i stopped myself many times from going to the med cabinent and taking another one and i was doing it just because i had gotten used to taking a pill every 2-3 hours so just tell yourself next time you are going to take one that there is no need in it because it is going to do NOTHING AT ALL and you are just throwing money down the drain by taking more than prescribed because suboxone is not a cheap drug at all
well good luck and you can do it just tell yourself that because it is 100% the truth that it is not going to do anything by taking more

GOOD LUCK AND GODSPEED
