Go to the Health Pages in the top right and read the Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocol. It will help you. You can taper or stop all at once. It is your choice. Keep posting and read a lot. This forum will be of great help to you!

Why are you taking it?

Do you think you are dependent on it?

by troubleinohio, Jun 14, 2008 05:23AM
yikes that is ALOT of acetominophen.....darvocet has alot of it in it, one of the highest of all the pain pills. You need to quit before your liver quits on you first.

Hey Man - that is the exact amont i was taking plus a little more. i was only supse to take 1-2 every 6 hrs.but i was totally abusing them as time went on until it got to 12- 15 @ a time,my life was becoming a slow blurr. I hated it and you know if your out of control. and i was. i went cold turkey and w/ the help of these GREAT people here have been clean for 53 days. Please be very careful w/ these pills there truly is a dark side to them, but you CAN stop. GBU and if you need anything ............

Not trying to be a ****.  Seriously.

Darvocets pretty weak.  If you think you're dependent on it, quit cold turkey and use the Thomas recipe.  It won't be near as bad as you think after the first 2-3 days.  How are you getting this many?

My main suggestion to you would be to avoid alcohol at all costs right now.  The levels of Tylenol in your liver are already stressing it, if throw in another living abusing substance your probably going to have serious complications down the road.  Darvocet is an opiate, it is a drug, but its not nearly as powerful as what a lot of people get on, and you see them quitting left and right.  Realize your not in too deep yet.  Get your head back above the water.  Save yourself while theres still time.

(Oh yeah.  If you have anyone who would help you, make them hold the pills and only allow you a set number a day.  Make sure they are reliable if you intend to taper in this way, because nothing ***** than your friend with the pill bottle not answering the phone.)

welcome to the forum...darvacet is very weak....i have taken them before but never felt anything and they didnt help my back either...should be easy to quit CT....u could taper down a pill each day if u need to...i know the drug does not seem as hard to quit as many others but it is still something hard for u i am sure....please keep posting and hang in there...make a plan

I don't think it matters.....if you take darvocet and it's all you know, then your withdrawal will feel like the worst thing on earth.....others will tell you its nothing compared to what they were taking which will mean nothing to you because you don't have anything to compare it too..... did that make sense?   regardless.......your gonna feel very bad for a week or more.

I would try to taper off them 1/2 or 1 pill every 3-4 days.......if you can't do that ......then you got to bite the bullet.

I wish you well.

Luv,
Nauty...........

Yur welcome, hun.  withdrawal is awful no matter what your drug of choice is......I'm sure you were not considering yourself a lucky man during withdrawal because someone told you it could be much worse.....lol.  I doub't it......I bet it was pretty bad.  Now, that you have been thu it ......you do have something to compare in a sense........if it were the higher meds.  You could have timed your experience by 50.......oiy......imagine that.

Take care.

I second Naughty. Not to disagree with all but withdrawal is withdrawal and it hurts bad. I don't minimize your pain and have taken darvocet a long time ago. I never tried to quit just used to bridge from one to the next time and it helped the wds so I imagine it has its own lil hell to dish out. I have taken handfuls and did feel something not what I wanted but I felt something so hang here post read and you are right where you are supoosed to be. I no ur pain and emapathize with you very much..... I am not getting clean off darvocet but I relate to you.
Morphine and the like = Ultimately Death
Darvocet = Ultimately Death
Where is the difference??? Death is death!! Right???

by worried878, Jun 15, 2008 08:09PM
I guess i tend to try to make things seem positive and i sure did not mean to minimize the struggle u r feeling with the darvacet....but it is somewhat true that if it were me i would much rather wd from d-cet than heroin...but i would rather not have to withdraw from either, truth be known, as quiiting any habit is no fun at all

by Mikeinthesouth, Jun 15, 2008 08:11PM
its all bout diversity many roads to one destination and many opinions to take into consideration when asking. Thats the way I think it should be.......
