day 8

Well ive hung around this site for the past 8 days. i quit cold turkey off 8 norcos a day for about 8 months 8 days ago. i was able to get a couple of ativans for the anxiety but yesterday was the worst day i got the worst panic attack and was a complete wreck. i couldnt take it anymore so i came clean with my doctor, he perscribed me xanex only 10 qty. My anxiety is still here, also really afraid of having to take the benzos because ive heard some really bad things about them. My question is is it safe to take them for about 10 days? Also is it really comon to have these horrible panic and anxiety issues? thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Yes benzo's are very addictive also. Especially someone like ourselves who like to pop pills! lol Of course they do have their pro's and cons.  Benzo's might be worse to wd from than most opiates also. I dont believe after in 10 in quanity that you will be dependent but you might like them too much kinda like the norco's!  Be very careful with benzo's.  I also "had" 20 valiums to help me with wd,but i really cant stand the feeling i get with benzo's so it wasnt or hasnt been a problem for me.  I believe at night is when i took them and it really made a big difference, but again i never reached euphoria either on them.  Thank god i didnt.  Try valerian root for anxiety and learn to calm yourself down by getting some light walking in, it helped tremendously.  BTW congrats on day 8 your almost there and you shouldnt need the benzos no longer!

Plus only 8 months at 80mgs is not an awful lot your wds should only be a day or two more at the most.

Congrats on 8 days. Anxiety is a big problem for awhile and you are smart to go easy on the benzos. Try everything you can to control the anxiety before you take one. EXERCISE....Go for a long, fast walk. This is great for anxiety and depression. Try to practice deep, controlled breathing in a quiet place....meditate. This might hang around for awhile so learn different techniques to control it. It will go away as time moves on. Lots of luck. Corey

my doctor prescribed xanax and klonopin for me for w/d from hydro. your doctor probably only gave you .25mg, maybe .5mg. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

The Xanax that was prescribed to you are very addicting, so take them only if you're in need of them. I commend you on coming clean with your PCP about everything. Now that they're aware of what's going on, they were comfortable enough to give these pills to you to use in case of an emergency - so that should tell you something. In other words, you will be just fine if you take them as directed.

Keep posting here on the forums and let us know how everything is going for you with everything. I had a few panic attacks when I first went CT from the Percocet I was taking on a daily basis for the past two years or so, so you're definately not alone there.

i just got back from a 40 min walk, feel allot better. yes its .5 mg of xanex, i think i just scared myself thinking my anxiety was w/d's from the 9 ativan i used for my physical symptoms. Whitch i dont think could be possible right?

I'm on day 8 also, coming off Darvocet, let's hang in there brother. Coming off Percocet years ago twice after 2 foot surgeries Xanax came in VERY handy mainly for sleep. Benzos aren't that bad with your low dose and limited amount so let em take the edge off. They are maybe 1/10 as addictive as the heavy narcotics you've been on and after your feelin' better you'll forget all about xanax cause your commited to staying off anything. Don't be afraid of a little xanax relief for now.......

yes we do just gotta plug away at this. Anxiety can cause some real wicked emotions and fear ive noticed. im gonna take another walk and try to get some sleep. hang in there!!! and congrats on day 8!!
