At first they make you feel better, but after a few years something changes and you start feeling down and have to take them to feel normal. At least that is how it was for me. I am sorry I don't know what the long term answer to depression is, but I do know the pills are not it. I do know that exercise like running will block depression as long as you keep doing it. Good luck!!
I second that, I truly do!!
AMEN!! PREACH IT!! God is the only answer, especially in times like this.
I just wanted to comment on your post about god because it is amazing to read when someone else confess's his power!!!!!! I personally beleive that addiction is a spiritual battle and while some may disagree.... Anyone going through this that is not a believer... Well now is the time:)
If you read the word, there are SO many scripts that I feel relate just to addiction.
@ sadi2sad, these people have given you great advice, run with it.
I concur with chad..... Pray Pray Pray!!!!!!! Rebuke that depression when you feel it. Beleive with all your heart that god will take it away. When you do so, you will be amazed!!!!!!!
Pain pills and antidepressants can be deadly depending on which antidepressant you are using. If its an SSRI like Prozac and tramadol, it could trigger serotonin syndrome.
Smoking dope doesn't help with depression either, its a depressant for gosh sakes! Plus, if you've been smoking the stuff since your early teens, you may already caused permanent damage to your mood controlling regions of the brain. Dope isn't harmless as every pothead on earth likes to say. I had a good friend of mine, who was just getting somewhere in life, just got his electricians certificate, and he commit suicide because the pot smoking made him manic depressive, and his anxiety was so bad he couldn't hardly go to the store anymore for groceries.
Anyways, Glad you decided to quit the opiates, they don't help with depression and anxiety either. What you were doing was smoking pot and taking pills all which causes anxiety and depression, then taking medication to stop those effects!
That's like taking uppers and downers at the same time!
I wish you sucess on stopping those horrid pills, and hopefully your antidepressant will be able to finally work and your symptoms will finally be able to improve.
A good multi vitamin with b complex especially b6, vitamin C, will help your endorphin return to normal faster,
calcium and magnesium will also help you with relaxation at bed time.
Hag in there, you still have the mind game to get through with those pills.
Listen, you are 4 days in, and the worse will soon be over. I have done this now 3 times, and can realate totally with you. I take Lexapro and have for years. I have general anxiety disorder and depression. What happens is when you quit taking the pills, your brain has to adjust to how it was before. I promise it may seem like you are going to be this way forever, but your not. Over the next 3-5 days, your depression will lift a little at a time. I actually had to face my doc and tell him I was abusing, and it was embarassing. But, I had to have relief. He gave me some anti-anxiety meds, not addicting ones. That made all the difference for me. I am on day 7 of my lattest and last binge. The important thing is to use this time as a lesson to never do it again. I know how you feel, trust me I was right were you are just 3 days ago. I am so much better now. My main help was God. I don't know how you feel about Him or Christiananity, but He is the true answer. Maybe He let this happen to you for a reason. Do you need to get back to Him? Are you saved? Before you anwer, you don't think that is the way to go, ask many others on here. The power of prayer is the best medicine. I will be praying for you. Keep going you are almost in the clear.
