detox tomorrow morning anyone help

detox tomorrow morning anyone help

Tomorrow morning I will take my last 2 50mg Tramadols.  I have been on opiates for 3 years and have never heard of Tramadol until this past Monday.  I weaned from oxy-morphine-hydros (last 5mg hydro Wed. morning) to Trammy.  I am so freaked out bc after trying to detox for months I have given myself no choice this time.  I went to the doctor on Monday she gave me a 4 day supply of this stuff.  I havent really gotten sick yet.  I know I will in the morning.  The thing I am wondering is will I have a bad withdrawal?  I mean I have only had these for 5 days.  Never taken them before.  I havent had an "opiate" since Wed.  I will say I have had some sweating, chills but nothing severe yet.  The "detox" migraine is present has been for 3 days.  I was wondering if I have prolonged my detox by taking it.  I am so scared.  Does anyone want to detox with me? lol

I don't know much about tramadol. I do know other people on this board have detoxed on them. I guess they can be addictive too if used for any length of time. I will give the floor to the more experienced.

Best wishes,
Tim

I know...not many people know about it that I can tell.  Those that have been on it have so for a long time.  I guess I will know tomorrow.  Thanks for your quick responses.  These forums are sooooooooooo helpful

You may have "extended" the WD but you also may have lightened it a bit.. Tramodol being a weaker opiate. YOu 'replaced" for a few days.. i have done this before with Darvoset.  Because you tapered some it should lighten the symptoms some.. I will warn you WD from Tramodol sometimes produces "electric shock " feeling from the stimulation of the serotonin receptors that the Tramodol did. You were not on it very long so it may not happen, but if it does its normal.
I too will be starting WD either tommorrow or sunday.. so we are in the same boat. I took Sub for 10 days and stopped last night. beacause of the half life of Sub WD is delayed slightly... so I am waiting... who knows maybe we will get lucky,,

We will be here for you. I read a post from a Dr that recommended that for detox. Her name is DutchessGolden and you could post to her. She might be able to help you and answer some questions. Keep on here and the room will help you all we can.

((((Heather)))) I hope you don't mind the hug

I detoxed with Tramadol.  I was taking about 12-20 10 mg percs a day and startd taking 3 50 mg trams every 3 hours or so for about 3 days.  That's when the percs would be out of my system.  I then lowered it to 2 every 3 hours for 3 days then 1 for 3 days then 1/2 for 3 days then I stopped.
I felt like **** but I was able to function.
I thinkthe long term effects of trmadol are bad but if used short term, since it binds to the same receptors inthe brain as opiates do but are not ontheir own considered a real opiate, I think it's ok.
I never got any sort of "high" from it.  It just stopped me from being sick.
Good luck to you!!

Hi, I am getting ready to try and detox off of Ultram. And Tramadol I believe is the generic of Ultram. So I agree with the other person you may have extended the detox but helped with the WD.   I am currently taking 400mg a day of Ultram/Tramadol and I have been doing this for 8 yrs. I am scared to death to quit and I haven't decided how I should do it yet.  All I know is that when I have run out of the pills before I have muscle contractions, or just feel jerkey or like i have the heebie jeebies, I get nausea, light headed or spinning feeling and diarrhea. So don't stay on the Tramadol too long or you will have to detox off of that too.

Dutchess is NOT a medical dr so please don't tell anyone to seek medical advice from her.  They should go to their own dr for that.

i detox with tramadol/ultram in the past it was easy. I have also taken ultram/tramadol for years on and off and NEVER had w/d with it, did not even know that you would detox with tramadol. I am now detoxing with suboxone, and finding it very easy. I am on day 10.

I believe she has a doctorate or is a social worker and she is a licensed counselor but she is not an MD.  You can ask her to give you her list of credentials.  She's always very happy to do so ((((eye rol)))l) LOL
My opinion of her has changed dramatically after her posting about that invite but that's irrelevant right now.
She isn't an MD but even if she were it's best not to have anyone get their real medical advice form anyone on thie forum, dr or not.  This place is really just intended for support and suggestions.  I woldn't want anyone to forego seeing their personal MD because of something someone has said here ya know?
Have a great night Tim....

Hey Tara, I don't think we can say that enough, Dutchess IS NOT A MEDICAL DOCTOR.  I think that is so important and even if she were, we are all just acquainted through this computer and we are not in the doctor's office where we are able to view their diplomas on the walls.  I am not saying Dutchess has not had some very valuable advice to the people here, but just one statement implying that she is a medical doctor could give especially some of the new people here the wrong impression.  But she is a blood relation to Queen Victoria.

I used it for detox... I have read some nasty things about long term use.. from patients.. docs are so unknowing they are only required 8 hours of training to write scripts for it...there were never any long term studies done.. and know they are changing there tune..people having pain from it, new pain receptors being made, uncontrollled pain relief in PM patients.
