detoxing alone (PIOF)

by mom2amj, Jan 03, 2008 07:48PM
I have been taking 60 mg of vicodin a day for nearly a year. Disc problems in my back lead to severe pain.  My husband deployed 10 months ago and we have a son, 21 months which I stay at home with.  My hubby knows what I am going through but just says "you can do it"  he just doesn't get it.  I am on day three going cold turkey and I am so depressed and have NO energy.  I am also in the midst of switching from prozac to wellbutrin.  I have some klonopin but that does not help becasue I am SO exhausted all the time anyway.  I do not want to do subox.  Is there anything I can pick up at GNC to boost my energy?  How much longer until I feel better?  I just want this behind me.  my kids deserve their mother back

Day 3 was the hardest for me. After that it was all down hill. Once day 5 hits it's all mental after that. No one knows what you're going through unless they have been in the same situation. You are so close now so don't give up. The hard part is almost it the past. Don't let the last 3 days go to waste because you know one day you'll have to go through it again. You can beat this!
Best of luck.

I just took my first wellbutrin today, still tapering off the prozac...I thought it wasn't working but maybe it was the vicodin making me so crazy.  I will get some Vitamin B tomorrow, I hope that helps! thanks

I'm afraid the mental part will be worse than the physical...I have a very addictive personality.  But I do have gabapentin so I think I will try that if worse comes to worse.  The back pain is pretty bad, and I'm the only one with my son....I told my ortho to give my a lidocaine patch instead of narcotics, it does NOTHING!

I'm not sure if you read some of my other posts, but gabapentin has helped with the withdrawals big time! It has been 90% easier. I know it can be presribed for depression also so you might want to check with your doc about taking it along with welbutrin. Tell your husband thanks for serving out country! Thats coming from a marine here. Just don't give up. You can do this!
