detoxing from methadone!

I'm rapid detoxing from methadone which is also called"IDR"INSTANT DETOX RELEASE".
I'm currently on 40mgs of methadone and was on 50mgs. 3 days ago. I'm coming off  50mgs in about 8 days to zero which is going to kill me!!!!!!!!! I'm so scared. I tried suboxone last time and it about killed me because I was on too high of a dose! So basically I have to come off methadone in 8 days after being on pills for 5 years & being on methadone for about1.5 years...I'm nervous as hell..scared more like it. I'm sitting here now on less mgs than I've ever been and I'm slowly feeling this withdrawl coming on! Any ideas on what to do such as going to the hospital to detox, taking an alternative...any ideas would be so so so helpful..I only have about 2-3 left before I plunge into this withdrawl for weeks!!!!  PLEASE HELP!

Help! My husband is trying to get off of methadone he wishes he'd never been prerscribed for pain; 20 mg a day to one pill in the morning & half at night, but it's been 2 months & he's in agony & so am I having to watch him not sleeping, looking like a zombie, & in all sorts of withdrawl symptoms. He sure can't work & he's wondering why he's taking so long compared to others we've read about?

Has anyone told you about the vitamins and minerals?  Methadone depletes your body of all vitamins/minerals, so pushing heavy vitamins can make a huge difference.
However, those of us on methadone have to get softgels or liquid or chewables...our gut has lost proper function and cannot break down a tablet of any kind.
Have you researched the rapid detox a lot?

I have no experience with Methadone. But I know after 5 years of using 30 lortab 10s a day my WD were horrible for so long. I really didn't know for 6 months if I could handle being clean. It's been almost a year now and I feel wonderful. It took me 5 years to screw up my brain and it took me a long time to get it back to normal. I still have some crazy days and  sad feelings but I think there comes a time when I have to quit blaming the WD from pills and accept that I can't hide my emotions and feelings with pills. I can't use to put me in a good mood or be the life of the party anymore. I've had to find a new me. You can do this just know that it is going to take time and you will be a better person for it. It doesn't happen in a week or two.
Now, go give your Chihuahua a big kiss!!!

Hi Chris, Its me Penelope again, I to am detoxing off of methadone, only I am at a much slower taper. I can tell you something that I am personally experiencing that is much different from oxycodone detox, & the difference is very weird, as we all know methadone has this half life, which can creep up on you from out of the blue, this is what it did to me, I have tapered off methadone very slowly for almost one year, I started at 95 & I am now at 12mgs, & my taper was great, that is up untill I got down under 20mgs, & it wasnt instant, I took the 20mgs & felt great, till out of the blue, three days later, it hit me, it wasnt horrible, I could get thru it, but my energy level just went down to zero, then about 9 days later, I felt normal again, then I went thru another drop, where I was fine & a few days later I felt less energetic & kinda down in the dumps, untill today, which is about 9 ten days later, I feel great! So what Im trying to say, which is of course my own personal experience, is that methadone takes a while longer then other opiates, but please be patient, I know its hard, as most addicts want it fast & now! & Try to stay as calm as possible, & as I told you before its gonna take some time & work on your behalf, you may have to come to terms with the fact that its gonna be a few days, or weeks till you feel better, but it will pass, & when it does, & your back to your old self again you are gonna have the best reward of all, & that is being off the methadone, & you can look yourself in the mirror & know that you made it, knowing that you beat methadone & that it didnt beat you is the light at the end of the tunnel for me, & it should be for you as well, having a positive attitude can play a huge role in how you get thru the next few weeks.  Im cheering for you! I know you can do this! Penelope

I detoxed 5 per day from 110 to 5 mg. Don't be intimidated. I detoxed this way many times and it may be one of the best ways. "methadone, there's no future in it". all the best
