dnt know where to start

I have been reading posts and I'm impressed at how much support ya'll give one another. I need help. I have not gone to my doctor but then again, all my doc has done is prescribe me any meds I want.
I'm currently taking 900-1000mg of Tramadol a day. I've had 4 seizures within the last year. I have been taking it for 3 years now. I need help. I want to quit. I have so much to lose. Where do I start?
I've been wanting to quit but i'm afraid of withdrawals. Can I still get seizures if I quit cold turkey? I don't know where to start.

Definitly DO NOT go cold turkey. Does your dr know about the seizures at all? That is very scary. You definitley need medical help with this. I wish you the best....

I would also see about talking with the doctor.  If he refuses to help you, then at least you tried.  We're not allowed to discuss taper plans here :(  And being that you have had 4 seizures already I myself wouldn't go CT!!!

Hi & Welcome,

That is a huge dose as I am sure you know. I cannot believe any doctor would prescribe that.

Going cold turkey off of Tramadol can cause seizures and since you have a history of it, I would proceed carefully. Have you considered getting honest with your doctor and getting on a proper taper plan? That is probably the best way to go for you.

There are other members here with experience on Tramadol so please be patient as they come one.

Glad you found your way here and hope it all works out for you.
